Aluratek Cinepal APMP100F (4 GB) Digital Media Player

This is a very sleek and well-designed media player with an easy control interface and beautiful large screen. HD video on this is stunning with crystal-clear images-I have an HD TV to compare and the resolution for this small screen is amazing although it has a narrow angle of view-not a major problem as it is designed primarily for one person viewing. Photos and other media work as promised-I use a freeware program that converts ebook and pdf files to text and I can read these on this player although without accompanying pictures or other graphics-so it does what it promises-is not an ebook reader but can be used as a .txt reader if you don't mind converting your ebook or pdf files to txt. But I bought this primarily for video and so far it reads every file I've tried it on-avi or mpg. AVI files actually can be a container for several file compression codecs-divx, older Windows AVI and others but I've had no problems with any so far. Lightweight, easy to carry-built in battery lasts for hours as promised. A few things I'd like to see improved-slightly sturdier buttons although these aren't bad-and more built-in memory-has 4GBs which doesn't store much but you can use SD cards or usb drives so not that big a deal. Headphone jack is a little buried-you must use mini headphones with a narrow plug-end, the included earphones fit perfectly. And there is an easel-type plastic fold-out rod in back to support this-but it is a little frail and will snap off if one isn't careful. Even so, for its intended use definitely worth it IMHO.

it has a great hd screen! buy it and you will not regret it! i have had it sense summer 2010 and it is 2011 so i have had it 7-8 months and it is still working great! don't debate buying it or something else. buy it and you will not regret it!!!!

One of the best little gadgets I've invested in. I no longer have to carry around a bunch of DVDs on long trips. I have loaded over 200 of the kids movies onto a portable hard-drive and they couldn't be happier with the selections available to them now.
