Tender, Tender Story
Created: 26/02/07
This DVD is a keeper for sure. Such a wonderful story of a man who is handicapped mentally, with autistic tendencies. This man, played by Sean Penn, has a heart overflowing with love for his tiny daughter. He hires a beautiful, successful woman attorney to help him regain custody of his daughter, who had been taken away from him. Michelle Pfeiffer is so good in her role as the attorney, witty and clever. I loved the little actress who plays Sean Penn's daughter! Sean Penn won 'Best Actor' for this movie, but I think that little girl ought to have won an Oscar also !! WONDERFUL, tender hearted story.

This is a very touching story of a mentally challenged single father trying to retain custody of his 7 year old daughter who is about to pass him up mentally. Sometimes sad, sometimes funny. This movie is a MUST SEE!!! Sean Penn & Dakota Fanning should both have won academy awards for this film

I Am Sam movie review

This movie is so good. It's all things in one.....a comedy, a drama, a love story. I Am Sam is one of Sean Penn's best performances ever. He does such a wonderful job portraying his role as a mentally retarded, single father. In my opinion, this movie deserves my two thumbs up!!! If you haven't seen it......PLEASE DO!!!

What a wonderful choice!

That Sean Penn did not win an Oscar for his work in this film is surprising. Dakota Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer are also very good, but this is really Penn's film. There is some language and sexual references that are inappropriate for small children, but for adults and teens the strength of the story outweighs the questionable elements. I recommend this film 100%.

this movie is very well done with awsome acting. a dramatic story about real life troubles and hardships.
this movie is about a man who will forever have the intelligence of a 7yr old, a homeless woman uses him for shelter pretending to be his girlfriend, she gets pregnent and after the birth of the baby abandons it.
the man who makes min wage at starbucks is left to raise this baby all on his own as a single father. when the little girl turns 7 all of a sudden it becomes a fight to try and keep the little girl.
the man goes through so many complications and whats so hard on him is he doesnt understand what is going on, he tries to hire a lawyer but has no sense of money management or numbers, amongst other surprises to him.
its amazing the way he touches peoples lives, the foster parents, the lawyers, his neighbor whom helped raise the little girl.
