I bought the kindle cause i love to read, I would rather read then watch TV anyday. As i am getting older its getting harder for me to read books with the small print. I bought the kindle so i can change the font size which makes it easier for me to read. There is no back light so its very easy on the eyes. kinda like reading from something written on paper. The Battery life is excellant, I get like 3 weeks of use before having to recharge, and thats using it for 1 to 2 hours a day, with more time reading on the weekends. I connect to Amazon thru my WIFI system at home, I can easily browse books and purchase or download the 1st couple of chapters to see if i want to purchase the book. Amazon has thousands of Titles to choose from. I would and purchase this product again, In fact i did, I love reading from it so much i purchased my mother one for a xmas present. I think she will love it. Only I bought her a 3G version since she does not have WIFI in her house. I have already tried it out for conection and purchased a couple of books for her that i think she would like. 3G, WIFI or just he WIFI version you would not be sorry. Infact you would love it.

I love books...horror, fantasy, thriller - you name it. problem is, each book has it's own size. you all know it's best to get a paperback, and just slide it in your pocket/bag. But what do you do when you have a large, hardcover book? well, I usually get the eBook version and read it on my PC. And if I'm not on my PC? well, then I have my laptop. But the laptop is also large, larger than your average hardcover book.
This is when I found out about eBook readers. First one I encountered was my friend's PocketBook Pro. I started looking for one I could use, started comparing the different types out there, and the conclusion - Kindle.
It's light, got a sleek look, fast page loading and is very simple to use. I also used the Jail Break update to add customized fonts and screensavers, it has a music player (which is great if you like to listen to music while reading, like me) and even some hidden games :-P
The thing which still hasn't changed (at least in the 3wi-fi version), is the PDF reading option. Unlike the AZW or MOBI formats, you can't make PDF font larger. Instead, you need to enlarge the screen to 150%, which makes the text shifting very annoying. A solution is either read the PDF while holding the Kindle horizontally, or use a text conversion tool.
Other than that, I don't see any other problems with the Kindle. I love it, and it fits right in my pocket, so I take it everywhere!

After reading reviews and carefully thinking about what we were going to mainly use this for (e-reading), we decided to go for the Amazon Kindle. There are many other readers out there to choose from and many offer color screens, applications, and bling. Some even for considerably less money, (up to $50) but trying to keep to our wishes and simplicity, the Kindle delivers.
The viewing screen is read easily in sunlight because of its special screen thats shows "ink" on the screen. It doesn't require power to keep the display up, basically only to change pages / displays. This also allows for its phenomenal (up to a MONTH) battery life compared to others that can only allow up to 2 weeks. Even though this is a long time, I believe those numbers are lab numbers and not real numbers. So keeping that in mind, the Kindle easliy offers twice the battery life of its competitors. Those were the 2 points we used on judging our decision, and we don't regret it a bit.

This is the 5th one i have bought for family. Love it!! I like the keyboard on the bottom. The new one out is all touch screen. Smudges are bad, no reason to touch screen with this one, less chance for scratches. Updates through homes wifi, very easy to download new books to all kindles. Battery life is great!! lasts at least a month. Only thing that would be any better is if it was in color like the new fire.
