Features rare archival photography, newsreel footage, interviews, and quotes of the day read off camera by Eli Wallach, Frances Sternhagen, George Plimpton, Judd Hirsch, Lois Smith, Vincent Gardenia, and Jerry Orbach. Produced and directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Ric Burns. Presented by PBS Television.

) Excellent documentary on the amusement history of Coney Island. Anyone interested in traditional historical documentary with historic pictures and early film and without reenactments on Steeplechase Park, Luna Park, and Dreamland park this DVD is a must! Although the back of the DVD states the running time is 60 minutes it is actually about 70-75 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise.

I enjoyed this item because it shows so much of the Coney Island that has been lost forever to history. It illustrates how it played a part in many of the inventions and advances that we would not see until much later in history such as the incubator. Now when I have the occasion to go to that area I appreciate it in a diferent way,with a historical perspective. This is now especially relavavent as part of it is now being bought up by developers and I feel certain that the day will come when there is no remnant of this wonderful history whic is so beautifully documented in this presentation.
boring, I would not suggest buying this dvd

I found half of this dvd very boring, not what I expected, the only part of this dvd that I acturlly enjoyed was the scenes from Coney Island the other half of this dvd was not of that.

) I was quite an interesting story about Coney Island and went into depth about all the different stages it went through with all the pictures it showed. I wanted to buy it because I wanted it on DVD, although I had it on VHS. I was amazed by the extra 15 minutes of all the scenes that were deleted on the VHS version, which really seemed interesting. Now I appreciated it even more!
The FUN never stops here!

) Having grown up in a small community(population 15,000 circa 1971)lived nearby our fairgrounds and every summer the fair would come to our town! It has always been a fascinating and exciting time during my childhood looking forward to going to the fair-ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE FAIRS AND CARNIVALS!This is a trip down memory lane-the fun and delight of an amusement park! Let the good times roll!!!!
