American Gothic (DVD, 2004)

When I received this movie I had no idea what to expect. I had remembered seeing the cover of the dvd several times and wondered what type of a movie this could possibly be. My 1st thought was of a crazy family killing people out in the woods somewhere. Well it does follow that thought indirectly but adds alot more as far as being original. Yes it is a crazy family and yes they're killing people. But the reasoning behind why they're doing what they're doing is really what sells the story. There are disturbing themes whithin the family that make it strange and at the same time entertaining. I don't want to get too much into the story as I hate giving spoilers. What I will say is that if you're a fan of the 80's horror genre you probably will find this an entertaining film with just enough horror to keep you watching. Not so much jump out of your seat horror. But more disturing idea type of horror...

The All American family goes nuts!!!!!!!! The family looks so normal at first and then they twist and turn into the nightmare incestuous family from hell. Good story, excellent ending. It takes someone crazier than they are to deal with them. Would be a great movie to update to modern times.

Good cast of characters. Film is like a Baby Jane family gone wild. Enjoyable to watch and full of shocking scenes of a disfunctional family.

I hadn't seen this movie in a long time and I was pleasantly suprised when I found a brand new DVD copy of it here on EBAY. I like the twist toward the end of the movie. Made it different from the norm. Good movie!! I am glad to have it as a part of my horror movie collection.

Been looking for this movie on DVD for years. Nice to find it at such a reasonable price. A stellar cast including Roy Steiger and Yvonne De Carlo make this creepy tale believable. Just another reminder what happens when a right wing bible thumper takes certain passages from the bible literaly while ignoring others.
