Product Information
In this strangely familiar, yet utterly wicked adventure, Alice answers a distress summons and returns to Wonderland. Upon her return she barely recognizes the befouled setting. From the fungal rot of the Mushroom Forest to the infernal chemistry of the Mad Hatter's Domain and beyond, Wonderland is in chaos. Undaunted by the diseased ambiance, cavernous confusion, and mortal danger that surrounds her, Alice must undo the chaos. Equipped with courage, a keen appetite for the bizarre, and a lethal array of mischievous toys, she must penetrate the stronghold of her enemies, confront the forces of evil and put the wicked Queen of Hearts in her place.Alice features stunning third person, 3D action based on enhanced Quake III technology, devious puzzles and labyrinthine mazes and familiar characters transformed. Included levels are reminiscent of the Pool of Tears, the Caterpillar's Garden, the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and more. Enemies include the ferocious Card Guards, demonic Fire Imps, ravenous Jabberspawn and more. The original soundtrack is composed and arranged by Chris Vrenna, award winning artist and founding member of Nine Inch Nails.

    American McGee's Alice Review

    Created: 06/12/06
I bought American McGee's Alice a couple months ago and was hooked from the start. The game features an adult twist on a childhood favorite (for this reason it is recommended for mature audiences only due to violence) and the entire game is well-thought through and creative. Appearances from favorite characters such as the Cheshire Cat, Dweedle Dee and Dweedle Dum, the famous Caterpillar, the Red Queen herself,(and many more) make the game familiar to the original story. However, American McGee has given each one of them a unique, dark twist to make the game even more eery. The storyline is well-developed, but I would recommend reading the doctor's "journal" (enclosed in the game case) before playing to fully understand how Wonderland ended up in it's current decayed state. The graphics are good (slightly linear, but it works well for the game), the sound is fantastic, and the controls are fine. I have no complaints! This game is fantastic!

    What a Trip!

    Created: 10/05/06
American McGee's Alice in Wonderland is such an extraordinary game that you feel like you are actaully going on the same little trip that she went on. Visually stunning graphics and oh-so spooky audio add to this euphoric environment. It is a fun game, and now that you can find it in the bargain bins in most major retail outlets - its worth the dime. My only gripe is that the difficulty on some of levels is actually kind of frustrating. There are very hard puzzles to solve and environements to get through! Although the game might appear to be for the kiddo's, its not. Strictly mature audiences. Trust me, if anything you at least have to try it. You won't be disappointed! I am actually concidering picking it up again.

    Here's a description:
When Alice is summoned to return to Wonderland, she can barely recognize the place. From the fungal rot of the Mushroom Forest to the chemistry of the Mad Hatter's Domain, Wonderland festers to its very core. Undaunted by the diseased ambiance and mortal danger that surround her, Alice must set out to undo the chaos.

One of the all time greats

    Created: 12/02/07
I originally bought this game back when it was first released in 2000, and I was immediately hooked and mildly obsessed. I love the look of the game, the mood, the story and the music which was created my one of Nine Inch Nails' founder, Chris Vrenna. It all comes together better than any other game I've owned before, and I've had them all from the original Doom to Battlefield 2142. Having loaned my original copy of Alice to a friend and never recieving it back, I decide to buy another copy of it off of ebay.Of course my system has changed greatly since then (now running an AMD 64 FX60 and a BFG 8800 gts w/ 22 inch wide screen, so I had to make some adjustments to run the game on a modern system by adjusting my monitor's resolution BEFORE starting the game to 1280x1024 and then checking the "run at full screen" option in the game menu. The game still capivates me. I still own all of the collector's figures including the rare ones, and I'm even listening to the soundtrack while writing this very review. I just wish all of the Alice fan sites were still around.

The Quintessential Twisted and Fun One

    Created: 10/12/08
I had once seen American McGee's Alice in a Wal-Mart for ten dollars and, being a broke college student, passed it over. Since then, I have had to scour to scour the Internet to find a copy less than thirty dollars.

Learn from me, and don't pass Alice by.

Taking the world of Alice and Wonderland, and twisting it terribly for the fractured mind of a slightly different Alice, the game is gorgeously awful. It's built on the Quake model, and so quite stable for a PC game of its age; and the graphics, while not demanding, are vivid and perfect for the realm. The story of Alice follows Alice herself as she tries to recapture her shattered mental state following the horrifying death of her family in a fire.

Weapons used throughout the game are entertaining to play with, and only marginally frustrating. As a survival-horror game, though, the goal is generally to run AWAY from the monsters. Replayability is in Alice's several levels of difficulty, the likelihood that the player missed several fun-to-play with items, and sheer desire to see That Thing (whatever That Thing was) again.

Some key visual elements are the stretched and twisted Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter's half-mechanized torture victims, and the White Queen's chess field.

For goths, for creeps, for gamers, for Alice aficionados... I love American McGee's Alice. Play it, buy it: it's worth it.
