Amped 3 (Xbox 360, 2005)

First let me start off with the pros and cons.

Pros: Just about anyone can play it; huge mountains to conquer; impressive soundtrack; lots to do; offbeat sense of humor

Cons: Incredibly simplistic gameplay; ho-hum graphics; has nothing in common with the previous two Amped games

Missing from amped 3 is the online gameplay. Whereas amped 2 you could hop on and challenge people across the world, now there is just an online leaderboard that ranks your best scores with others. Simply put, thats all the online there is. Kinda sad, I know.

The graphics are extremely better and the physics is smoother. Riding in Amped 3 feels like your actually on the mountain. Helps if you have your 360 hooked up to a hdtv :)

Overall, anyone can grasp the gameplay of Amped 3. It provides good amusement as some of the missions you must ride a sled down a hill and crash into everything possible to get the highest doctor bill possible. Also, it contains similar missions towards amped 2 as you impress photographers and beat pro's highscores on a run. Contains a story mode where you help out your friends on the mountain in weird missions and unlock near gear and attributes.

Grab this title if you're a fan of the Amped series. However, dont expect it to be anything like the 1st or 2nd amped. Simply put, Amped 3 brings it's own stuff to the table. If your not a fan then you prolly wanna stay away and wait for another snowboarding title.

this game cannot compare to amped 2. they switched up the controls and made the A,B,X,Y buttons for grabs it sucks. also to grind all you do is jump on something, terrible. There are a few things that are better, the levels are even bigger for one, and also you can do flatground snowboard stuff, very cool. Basically what they should have done for amped 3 is make it the same as amped 2 for gameplay but added flatground, new bigger levels, and a new storyline and it would be amazing. they changed too much stuff though and now it cannont compare to amped 2. BUMMER! i wish an amped 4 would come out that was like amped 2!

Postives:

I fell in love with Amped 1 the first time I played it. Subsequently, I bought Amped 2, and couldn't wait for Amped 3 for the Xbox 360. In my personal opinion, the game play and competitions are wonderful on Amped 3. The game is very lively and lovely, as well as having outrageous cut sceenes. I believe Amped 3 is the most enjoyable of them all. With the sled challenges, where you actually try to crash, and the scoreboards that actually gage your competition with others on Xbox live, this game is sure to be enjoyable.

Neutral:

I will say this Amped seemed much easier to me then the others. I cannot say this is a positive or negative. For me it was a positive, because I was able to finish the game without getting discouraged. However, for more advanced players it could be looked on as a downfall.

Negative:

There is little negative I have to say about this game (you see I gave it a 5), but there are a few annoyances, I will have to admit. For one, other then a few in-game challenges, there is no multiplayer mode! There was multi-player in previous versions, as well as online gameplay. I could not believe this feature was left out. In addition, there are a few glitches that can be pesky- like on the sled challenges, and in a few of the runs. However, these do not affect gameplay much at all.

Overall:

I give this game a 5.

For one, it was able to hold my attention (and is the only "sports" game I play!).
Two, if you like competition, this is it.
Three, the game is both beautiful and enjoyable.

However, if you want multiplayer, get an older version or another game.

Amped 3 is a pretty old xbox360 game. It came out the same year the new system had arrived and I'm pretty sure it was a launch game. The graphics are definitely not on par with what we've come accustomed to. If you can overlook some of these things you'll really enjoy it if you're a snowboarding fan. The story is just ridiculously entertaining and will have you laughing out loud. The trick system has been completely redone no longer are you doing tricks with the analog sticks a la amped 2, but more in a tony hawk style with the face buttons. I might have been one of the few who loved the original challenge and "realness" of the first 2 amped games. But it's not all doom and gloom the game is still entertaining. Although no longer feels like an amped game. With its crazy color palettes and crazy characters it feels more like SSX but of course SSX has a better trick system. The challenges in this game are varied from impressing the media with a certain type of trick they like to sledding down the mountain to see how many bones you can break. The humor is quite juvenile yet still entertaining. If you like snowboarding games or the first couple tony hawk games you'll definitely enjoy this game. Just don't go in expecting something totally revolutionary.

Way, way, better than Amped 2. Tricky controls if you played Amped 2 though, the left analog is now for camera, not grabs, only tricky because I'm so used to the older game though. Besides that, the mountains are HUGE, and there is so much to do it'll keep you busy for hours. Graphics are good but keep in mind this is an older game so while not as nice looking as say Shaun White snowboarding, it plays way better. 300 or so indie tracks for the music isn't bad either and most are quite good. Definately well worth the money. A+++
