Album Notes
Kiss: Paul Stanley, Mark St. John (vocals, guitar); Gene Simmons (vocals, bass); Eric Carr (drums).Producers: Paul Stanley, Michael James Jackson.Recorded at Right Track Studio, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Robert V. Conte.Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sterling Sound, New York, New York). With personnel changes and neglect from a key member of the band, it's amazing ANIMALIZE turned out as well as it did. This record shows Kiss was able to rise above all the groups who copied a style of music that Kiss originated. After LICK IT UP, "creative differences" pushed lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent out and speed demon Mark St. John in. Without missing a lick, St. John was able to fill Vincent's shoes admirably. Also around this time, Gene Simmons decides to try his hand at acting, starring in such films as "Runaway" and "Wanted Dead Or Alive". Thus, he is listed as Associate Producer but in reality had minimal input. Producer Paul Stanley did a fine job putting his own personal technical stamp on the album. Stanley sings on "I've Had Enough (Into The Fire)," a fast and furious track with motivational lyrics. He also fills in on bass for Simmons on both singles, "Heaven's On Fire" and "Thrills In The Night." Lyrically, Simmon's songs reflect where he was in the 80's with titles like "Burn Bitch Burn" and "Murder In High Heels".

Kiss-Animalize

Created: 01/10/08
This is Kiss' second cd without makeup, and is the best selling one of all time that the group did without the makeup. It went platinum. It had the only appearance, from a Kiss album, of the excellent late guitarist by the name of Mark St. John on it. His guitar work on it sounds like no other Kiss album out there. He was let go, soon after making the album, because he could not tour with them for very long on the Animalize tour from his hands puffing up real bad. He was replaced by Bruce Kulick for the rest of the tour. The album had the singles "Heaven's On Fire" and "Thrills In The Night" released from it. Also, it has the drumwork of the late Eric Carr that is excellent and even Bruce Kulick lends two minor guitar parts on the album. If you want to complete your kiss collection without makeup than it cannot be done without including this album in it.

Kiss Animalize

This album was the only album that featured Mark St. John who had to leave Kiss due to a arthritis condition. Gene Simmons was off doing is acting career and this album suffered for it. By far the best songs on this album are I've Had Enough (Into the Fire), Heaven's On Fire, Burn Bitch Burn, Get All You Can Take and Thrills in the Night. This would be their second non makeup album but I still feel it was lacking something.

As a long time Kiss fan I thought this album had 4 or 5 really good songs on it..All the ones by Stanley are top notch with his vocals at their best.To me it seems the Simmons songs are throw ins so he can have his name on a Kiss album but not too good to me..I heard he was almost absent for that entire album as he tryed to "act".His acting and his songs both suffered as neither were any good..Mark St Johns guitar is extremely fast and kicked ass..Too bad he only did that one album....Frank G

The start of a new age.

This is an awsome album from the greatest band in the world. It's not thier best, but it's still pretty rock solid. The only album featureing Mark st. James who soon after developed a decease which increased the size of his hands. It will be a great addition to your Kiss collection.

ANIMALIZED by KISS

Ive been wanting a new copy for years. Rocked with KISS at the ANIMALIZE concert in Austin, Tx. during " THE METAL YEARS ". This concert tour holds a special place in my heart and my mind. This is one of their best albums to that date and with the 70's sounds out of the way and the metal sound in, it helped re-establish KISS as the band to look up to and model yourself by. Rock on. YOU WANTED THE BEST, YOU'VE GOT THE BEST...(KISS)...Hands down!
