) I show this movie at the end of my space unit to my 8th graders. THis movie really keeps their attention and fits in nicely to my state standards. I like how it is based on a true event and the kids end up looking into more space related items because of this movie. The actors are great and i never get sick of watching it year after year.

The blow-by-blow account of mankind's third attempt to land a man on the moon, as told from the prespective of the mission commander himself.
The real-life characters of this event leap from the celluiod in a nonstop, action-packed, Hollywood blockbuster, and popularized the term, "Failure is Not an Option".
It should be required viewing for every middle school student.

If you are into the Apollo Space program of the 1960's you will enjoy Apollo 13 and the adventures of the 3 astronauts and their "Successful Failure"! Another great Tom Hanks movie you will enjoy!
