    • Tanks, water sources, substrates and decorations, and water testing
    • Live plants for freshwater and brackish aquariums and invertebrates for marine aquariums
    • Fish anatomy and physiology (plus a guide to dozens of freshwater coldwater, tropical marine, and brackish fish)
    • Choosing a quality dealer and developing a good relationship with them

    Christopher Lee Rhyne Review 141

    Created: 05/05/09
Setting up your first aquarium is essential to know all the rules, Water conditions, pH levels, correct lighting, fish, invertebrates on both freshwater and marine aquariums detailed inside book. Photos (color) are located after page 166. Book has 328 pages, softcover, choosing the right aquarium, selection on fish, maintaining a healthy aquarium, selection and buying tank equipment.

Live plants chapter 10, water sources chapter 6, substrates & decorations chapter 4, aquarium gadgets chapter 21, let's spawn chapter 18 & last chapter 26 more than ten resources. Most know setting up a new tank is not fun or exciting, I recommend book on a friendly guide feeling for any first time aquarist.

Book also talks about fish, which ones live together and specific fish to look for for easy aquarium fun. I was surprised to see how well book tasks on, plants / fish / filtration / aquarium water conditions & more you need to read about.

I rate 5***** on this book Aquariums for Dummies.

Tides of humor, waves of information

    Created: 16/08/08
I bought the "Aquariums for dummies" book to learn how to help my daughter with her new 10 gal. aquarium, however I found the book so interesting and so well written that I have just bought my own 20 gal. aquarium today and can't wait to start my own collection fish.
The book was a very easy read. All the information was straight forward and presented in a very humorous way, but was not lacking in any way. All my questions were answered ( including the ones I didn't know I had ) in a manner that left me both informed and not feeling like an idiot.
I know that this will be my primary resource for all my questions and concerns with regaurd to my new aquarium hobby.

    Thank You
    Dave

    Aquariums For Dummies-Great Book

    Created: 10/04/08
I have been around aquariums my entire life, I'll be 51 in June, and I've always seemed to do pretty good with most of the fish that I have had. Aquariums are a very important part of my life, they are very relaxing and interesting to have around, to me they are a living work of art.I saw this book for sale on here and I honestly thought that it wasn't a serious book about aquariums, like a joke book, boy was I wrong. But this book has helped me understand and learn alot of things that I didn't know about aquariums, it is a wealth of information but it is worded in a way that I can understand and relate to. I would definatly recommend this book for anyone from a beginner to the advanced aquarists. I have a 120, 55, 2-29, and 2-20 gallon aquariums and my tanks look even better than they did, and my fish are healthier and happier. Good luck and Happy Aquariuming!

Aquariums for Dummies by Maddy Hargrove, Mic Hargrove (

    Created: 09/05/07
I have been into freshwater tropical aquariums for several years now. I bought this book to see what kind of tips I could get for saltwater. I am preparing for an attempt at it. I think this book is a great investment for a begining aquarist or someone that has experience. The layout is very simple and you do not have to read it from cover to cover to get some tips from it. I did find it quite interesting and read several chapters that I didn't figure on reading. I personally did not find any downfalls to owning this book. I will use it as a reference for years to come.
