Arcania: Gothic IV (PC, 2010)

The first 2 Gothic games are my favorite games of all time. I got Gothic (the original) on my 10th birthday. I have been hooked and beating them all one by one. The 3rd and 4th are okay, but i think after playing the 1st 2 im a little disappointed. In Gothic 4, its a set story and you are just an adventurer fulfilling it, like a book. There is no variety. No classes, there are only 3spells in the game!!!! Gothic 1 and 2 had hundreds of spells and the game was different everytime. You could join any camp you wanted and take any path you choose. The upside of Gothic 4, is when you find someone in the game that related to the originals (although they dont recognize you since you are a different hero). The graphics in this game are phenominal. If you are a die hard Gothic fan, this game is necessary to unfold more story line, but if this is the first you've heard of the german-originated game, you might be disappointed.

The game is pretty fun overall. It's not the best RPG out there, but it is one of the better ones, in my opinion. The story is a bit...odd, but the game doesn't take itself too seriously, which is a good thing.
My only complaint is that I wish it supported a controller, only because the camera control is horrible with the mouse and makes the game hard to play.

right now I can't play the game because of game control. The mouse seems extremely sensitive and the web site for help is down because of a bankruptcy and takeover.

Although the game could benefit from a better interface, as RPGs go, it is entertaining, visually pleasing and worth your investment of time and money. Should provide gamers a 50+ hours of play.
