(saxophone); Jonathan Melvoin (tambourine, background vocals); Brad Marsh (tambourine); Tim Barr, Annette Atkinson (bass); Sheila E. (drums); Susannah, Taj (backing vocals).Engineers include: David Leonard, Peggy Mac, David Tickle. On AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY, the follow-up to their megahit PURPLE RAIN, Prince and the Revolution add a generous helping of psychedelia to their style, enlisting Prince's father along the way to co-write several songs, including the title track. Many critics at the time dismissed AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY as a turkey follow-up to the outstanding PURPLE RAIN. However, the achingly beautiful ballad "Condition of the Heart," and the stunning "The Ladder," as well as the pop classic "Raspberry Beret," could easily sit beside the band's best material. Ballads and pop gems aside, Prince is as cocky and as sexually self-assured as ever on AROUND THE WORLD. When he vamps and winks his way through "Temptation," the epic album-closer, he moans "everybody on this earth has got a vice and mine, little darlin', is the opposite of ice."

Prince's Around the world in the day

Created: 29/09/10
Although it was categorized as a cheap understudy of Prince's top selling Purple Rain, Around the world in a day is a complete psychedelic addition to Prince's music repertoire. A completely new approach to music from Prince's perspective, and still maintains that MPLS sound. Tracks like Raspberry Beret mimic the feel of Take me with you. Paisley Park, tamborine, and pop life jazz up the beginning styles of Let's pretend we're married, automatic, and Lady cab driver. And what Prince album would be complete without a timely rendition track of Purple Rain? Condition of the heart and The ladder do this album justice under this catergory. Around the world in a day and america complete the album with new sounds and trial runs for future music. Great addition to any Prince music lover.

Doing What He Does Best

Created: 18/04/06
This is one of Prince's best CD's. Very funky and versatile.
Condition of the Heart, one of the best ballads written next to The Beautiful Ones.
I would have to say my favorite track from here is Paisley Park - kinda reminds me of Side Show by Blue Magic (not so much the music) but the lyrics.

A must have in any Prince lover's collection

This is an awesome CD!!!!! I love Prince as it is, but the style he uses on this cd is just funky and different. Of course there are some familiar songs such as Raspberry Berrett and Pop Life, but the others are just done with a lot of soul and heart. I never even knew this album exsisted until my fiance introduced me and I love it!!!!!! Buy it if you have the chance you will not regret it.

Great Early 90's Prince CD

Created: 12/02/10
This CD did not get the recognition it deserved when it was released. It was such a departure for Prince as compared to his previous work. But it showed a great willingness to experiment and keep his inner artist happy. Not just his check book. Looking back at the disk twenty years later it still has some fantastic tracks on it that play well today.
Do yourself a favor if you are a Prince fan and pick this one up. If you are a Beatles fan (circa St. Peppers) you would do well to own this too.

We bought this CD as a present for my mother because she loves Prince and has it on vinyl. Delivery time was pretty good I thought.
