ASUS A696

I would call this device a jack of all trades but a master of none. The GPS works well, though it'd be better if I could control it with my voice so I could pay attention to the road. The touch screen works great and has good detail, making it good for watching movies. It plays mp3's fairly well, though without preamp control it can be a little quiet through headphones. Being able to sync it with Outlook was really nice. And it comes with a couple fun games! A great value if you don't want to carry around several different devices.

Fantastic small format Pocket PC. I needed a new P-PC because the software developers had left my old one in the dust, and it was becoming erratic with frequent resets.
I initially had similar "erratic frequent reset" problems with the A696, but after downloading/upgrading the firmware and OS, those resets became a memory.
I like the cleaner/clearer screen.
The only disappointment I have is there was no AC/DC power supply with the system for home charging, though they are available through other vendors.
If you need a PDA, with connections to Microsoft Office, and do not want to pay for all the extra fees for a smartphone - which I consider obnoxious, this is a great way to go.

Well for ASUS fanatics like I am, will find the A696 a decent PPC+GPS with an excellent processor,good GPS(Sirf+NMEA protocol),enough memory but not so bright screen.
The point that this gadget is great, is its quality, very well made with strong speakers and without the annoying GPS antenna.
So I strongly suggest it.

I'm completely satisfied with this device which I bought because of in-built GPS. Reasonable price, comfortable to use.
