AT&T 1739 Digital Answering Machine

I bought this inexpensive answering machine for my elderly mother because her new big-button phone doesn't have this feature. Setup was a snap and she likes the male robot voice and his canned greeting. I don't believe you can make the robot female, or, record your own voice, which must be a relief to the robot. One disconcerting feature is the machine announces the phone number calling. So if you're sitting with the girls playing bridge, the robot will announce "Receiving a call from 206-555-1212" which can startle you enough to drop your cucumber sandwich, for heaven's sake. She also has trouble understanding the message being left, but that could be because the telemarketer callers have trouble speaking English. Don't have great expectations, don't pay too much, and you might be happy. Time to add mom's number to the Do Not Call list.

I bought this answering machine brand new at Wal-Mart for $15 & I thought it was a great deal...until I got it home. It's so loud & everytime the phone rings it announces the phone number calling you. We set it on 3 rings and it kept my regular cordless phone from ringing half the time. I would have to look on my caller ID to see who called that day. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I returned it yesterday.

Very nice product. Simple, easy to setup. Messages are listened very clear. I wanted something to replace a very old telehpone witn ansewring machine and devices sold here -Buenos Aires, Argentina- are terrible. Besides, it comes with spanish voice, very usefull as here not all of us speak english. There are only 2 details: I couldn't record conversations yet (I think it can't, as manual says nothing) and it continues recording some seconds after the message is left. I was told at AT&T the the machine was intendend for U.S. and Canada networks only, but doesn't mind: it works very well

Overall, this AT&T Digital answering machine is a beautiful white color; has essentially all of the same functions of our previous answering machine; it came in an attractively designed box; it comes with a complete User's Manual with complete information on installation, directions, usage and troubleshooting section and also comes with easy to install connection wiring; I've found this answering machine to be easy to use; the function keys are slightly larger than our previous one and the message volume has more volume range than our previous model. I would give this answering machine an A+ rating and would buy another one or recommend one.

Product is performing as it should with no glitches and/or problems. Very happy with the product. Set up was equally without problems. I was seeking a simple answering device without any bells and whistles and this machine gave me that. A great purchase!
