What a Convenience!

This is an MP3 with a combination seldon seen: Standard memory and standard batteries. The memory is SD cards. With SD cards prices dropping you can have one card for each genre of music and exchange them at your will. The battery is an AAA, that you find everywhere. Original memory of 128K is a plus in the sense that the player is very low price. It is like a Camera: low built in memory and infinite possibilities using SD memory cards. The only down side I see is the earphones, despite cristal clear sound, are a little bit bulky compared with the ones you put inside the ear, althoug more higienic for shared use. An improvement that would make it even better is to have "standard music"...a Radio tuner. If you want a MP3 that is very practical at low cost this is the one.

RCA Lyra (RD1028)

I really like this little player alot. I purchased it for my son who is almost ten and not really into music yet. Because of his age and interests, I wanted some that didn't require alot of memory and was durable, some of these mp3 and mp4 players are quit delicate. Especially for a 9 year old. This player without a SD card will hold about 30 of his songs and with a SD card..well that depends on the size of card. This thing is STRONGLY built! Has a rubberized like outer casing, with big on and off, forward, back, etc, buttons! Great for kids (adults also). Good read out on the screen and other great features. The only problem is the are hard to find. I could not find any new ones during a search, but they might be available. They were very affordable when they were available at Wal-Mart if I remember correctly, about $40.00 So if you are looking for an affordable for a child or adult, mp3 player this is a good one. By the way my boy just loves it (my teenage daughter won't touch it with a ten foot pole...she's got her mp4 nano and anything else just isn't cool enough). Hope this might help anyone who is looking for an entry level mp3 player. JA

Review of RCA Lyra RD1028 (128 MB) MP3 Player
Created: 06/11/06
This mp3 player may be small, but it holds alot of songs. It can hold alot more music with it's SD memory card slot. I use it for working out. It uses a normal size headphone plug and one AAA battery. Mine came with an elastic armband, so it stays out of the way. So far after a couple of months of use I haven't encountered a problem. I would definitely recomend this to someone who wants a simple, no frills, easy to use mp3 player.

My First MP3 plater (at 24!)

I decided to buy the lyra because of the price! Its very simple to use with only 8 buttons. It takes one triple A battery, that lasts quite a while. Its a 128MB internal memory, so i added a one GIG SD card, but i am currently thinking of upgrading to a 2 GIG SD card or higher.
I also liked the blue color, as the 256MB is black i believe.
I think this is the perfect starter kit, for even someone like me who started with the MP3 player after everyone else did!

Created: 10/10/08
I love the RCA Lyra! It was my first MP3 player ever. My hubby bought it for me. i like that you can save it to the mp3 player AND a memory card.
You get 26 songs on it with out the card with the card you get about 150. it is easy to upload songs and delete songs.
It is way easy to operate! My 7 year old can do it!
Mine was taken, so I searched ebay so I could get another! I love it so much and I hated losing it! now I have another!
I hope this review helped you! If you wnat an easy to operate, nice mp3 player, this is the one!
Thanks! Laura
