Movie synopsis

In his second screen adventure, groovy superspy Austin Powers (Mike Myers) returns to 1969, where one after another hilarious gag is worked into a silly, stumbling, knee-slapping plot. This time around, Austin Powers' arch-nemesis Dr. Evil (also Myers) is joined by a midget-sized clone of himself, Mini-Me (Verne Troyer). Having successfully stolen Austin's "mojo" (his libido), Dr. Evil can concentrate on his ultimate mission of destroying the world. Meanwhile, Austin, with the help of gorgeous agent Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham), must now not only contend with Dr. Evil, but also the small but vicious Mini-Me. Also in this installment, Evil's son, Scott (Seth Green), finds out who his mother is, and Mike Myers stars as a third character--rotund and truly disgusting Scotsman Fat Bastard. More raucous fun in the spirit of its 1997 smash predecessor, AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME once again thrills audiences with its inexhaustible humor.

Editorial reviews

"...A truly devilish contraption....A spoof so affectionate as to buttress effectively that which it sets out to ridicule..."
Sight and Sound - Xan Brooks

"...[A] saucy '60s spy spoof..." -- 3 out of 4 stars
USA Today - Susan Wloszczyna (05/02/1997)

"...A flurry of good jokes....The POWERS pics come closer than any to recapturing the wonderfully anarchic spirit of the Bing Crosby-Bob Hope 'road movies' -- with surreal gaggery and unbilled guest-star bits..."
USA Today - Mike Clark (06/11/1999)

"...More energetic and funnier than its predecessor....Myers has a singular talent for skit humor..."
Los Angeles Times - Kenneth Turan (06/11/1999)

"...There is an underlying likability to Austin Powers that sort of carries us through the movie. He's such a feckless, joyful swinger that we enjoy his delight. Myers brings a kind of bliss to the Bond lifestyle..."
Chicago Sun-Times - Roger Ebert (06/13/1999)

The Spy who Shagged me... a funny sequel

Created: 17/08/09
The spy who shagged me is the sequel to Austin Powers/international man of mystery. Mike Myers continues his spoofs as the international spy. There are certain flaws, like his wife having been a fembot all along, and the fact that his "new" set of teeth from the 1st episode, have returned to their rancid self... Still, Dr. Evil and mini Me make up for that, even though some of the material is rehashed, this sequel is truly funny and has its fun & sweet moments as the bungling nerd spy exposes his human/tender side.

Its a good film to see with a date or with the family.

I recommend buying the first two of this series / unfortunately like most tri-quells his 3rd release "Goldmember" was simply nonsense and an utter failure, and seemed to be rushed by the writers.

The Spy Who Might Have Shagged Someone

Created: 13/02/06
This second movie by Mike Myers is not as good as the first, nor the third, but certainly worth a watch. Hilarious watching for any Bond movie fan. Heather Graham is nice to look at but not nearly as nice as Liz Hurley in Austin Powers 1.

This movie always cracks me up. Fat Bastard is certainly a classic character. I usually don't like movies that are so silly, but in this case, it was a really good belly-laugh.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (DVD, 1999, Special Edition) is a great comedy. It is a perfect follow-up to a hilarious first movie of the Austin Powers Series.
