I saw this movie many, many years ago and liked very much the Jeff Chandle words for the boats using the metaphore of the sons to help their mother (as written in spanish subtitles).
To my surprise, I found out that the batle scenes were filmed in Vieques which is a puertorican island (where I live)with US marines on training. Recently the marines bases were closed.
The DVD itself is well remasterizised

This is not your typical war movie. It goes into the cost of command and the ability of a good captain to motivate a crew to face the terrible possibilities of war.

Whenever we talk about movies, my favorite nutty cousin always says no other film star rocked her world like Jeff Chandler back in the 50's. I was tickled to find Jeff on eBay. Of all the Christmas presents I gave, this DVD was the most appreciated and most fun. I never could have found it without eBay. Rosemary is going to let me know if this is the film where he takes his shirt off!

Away All Boats is a silver screen classic, set during WWI in the Pacific, and starring Jeff Chandler, an actor who died way before his prime, it would have been interesting to see what other roles and movies Chandler would starred in had he lived longer. A must have for fans of the WWII silver screen classics genre.
