Publisher's Note
A decade postmilitary, Reacher has an ATM card and the clothes on his back - no phone, no ties, and no address. But now a woman from his old unit has done the impossible. From Chicago, Frances Neagley finds Reacher, using a signal only the eight members of their elite team of army investigators would know. She tells him a terrifying story - about the brutal death of a man they both served with. Soon Reacher is reuniting with the survivors of his old team, scrambling to raise the living, bury the dead, and connect the dots in a mystery that is growing darker by the day. The deeper they dig, the more they don't know: about two other comrades who have suddenly gone missing - and a trail that leads into the neon of Vegas and the darkness of international terrorism.
For now, Reacher can only react. To every sound. Every suspicion. Every scent and every moment. Then Reacher will trust the people he once trusted with his life - and take this thing all the way to the end. Because in a world of bad luck and trouble, when someone targets Jack Reacher and his team, they'd better be ready for what comes right back at them.

When a man is killed by being thrown from a helicopter high over the California desert, Jack Reacher discovers that someone is targeting his old friends and teammates and launches a personal campaign to end the conspiracy.

When a man is killed by being thrown from a helicopter high over the California desert, loner Jack Reacher discovers that someone is targeting his old friends and teammates and launches a personal campaign to end the conspiracy before it claims any more lives. 250,000 first printing.

Industry Reviews
"Perhaps there are action-lit writers more recognizable than [Lee] Child, but the bet is that none of them will turn in a tighter-plotted, richer-peopled, faster-paced page-turner this year." (starred review)

"[Lee] Child remains the reigning master at combining breakneck yet brilliantly constructed plotting with characters who continually surprise us with their depth." (starred review)

ONE OF CHILD'S BEST

Created: 07/02/08
HAVE LOVED AUTHOR LEE CHILD FROM HIS FIRST BOOK. KNEW THAT JACK REACHER WOULD BE A HIT AND THAT LEE CHILD HAD A WINNER. I THINK HIS FAN BASE GROWS LARGER EACH YEAR. THIS BOOK IS ONE OF THE BEST. IT SIMPLY SNAPS WITH CHARACTERS FROM REACHERS OLD ARMY INVESTIGATIVE UNIT. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ ONE OF CHILD'S BOOKS, THIS ONE IS A GOOD PLACE TO START, AND I PROMISE YOU'LL BE HUNTING FOR ALL OF "REACHERS" OTHER ADVENTURES AS HE TRAVELS THE HIGH ROADS AND THE LOW ROADS OF THE UNITED STATES.

Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child (2007)

A compelling story that involves the camaraderie of a former Army MP Company of special investigators and their former Comppany Commander. The team receives a 1030 call (code call for an MP needing immediate assistance.), and they assemble as soon as they can in L.A.

They are scattered out over the country since they all left the Army. The attempt to team up under the direction of their former CO, Major Jack Reacher's(RETIRED). Murder has taken a tole on former command of elite squad of men and women. The rest assemble to start the hunt in the "Hard to lay down Book" of author Lee Child.

The author has authored 20 something books, and all are suspenseful, fast moving and has surprise endings.

Bad Luck and Trouble, by Lee Child

I have read most of Vince Flynns books and enjoy those. So when I heard about Lee Child, I started reading his series and like it as much.
This book Bad Luck and Trouble starts out with a bang and just keeps going. I like his description writing. He gives the character, Jack Reacher, such a life, you can't help but cheer for him. Great writing and great book.

Lee Child is a great author. His character jack Reacher is a bad ass motha. A superhero without special powers. Just a speicific set of skills that makes him someone you wouldn't want to mess with.

Bad Luck and Trouble---a worthwhile read!

Ok, so I like Lee Child and love Jack Reacher! I read the other reviews and there are some very good points mentioned.....however, Jack Reacher IS allowed to be too good! That's what I like about this character; he always comes out on top. This book reunites Reacher with his old Army MP team and there is lots of action!
