Barbarians at the Gate (DVD, 2001)

A Wall Street epic about the takeover of a cigarette company by KKR and the
ensueing trials of the takeover. A sideline of this story is the lifestyle
of the executives of the company and their luxury spending sprees. Also,
James Garner in a starring role does a great role of manipulation or trying
to manipulate several companies while they are bidding for his company. The
hiding of a disasterous cigarette product is included in this comical, yet
very interesting TRUE story-that was made into this movie.

The thing that makes this movie so great is that it is a very funny movie, eve though it reflects a drama. Johnson's (Jim Garner) take over attempt is so outrageous, that you could not have dreamt up such a funny scenario, if it was not for the fact that it was true.
The funny thing was also in that everybody way overpaid for the equity in RJR Nabisco, everybody made money from it.

I love how you see first hand how business is done on a top level. its amazing how f ross johnson became who he became and too try and pull off the biggest stunt in history .............. very awsome movie buy it

It just goes to show the the Corporate excesses started back in the 80's. As long as there where profits no one cared. I loved the the part where the 2 Executes are talking on cell phones on separate G-5's flying side by side.
