Barbie - Fairytopia: Mermaidia (DVD, 2006)

Yet another wonderful Barbie movie. Mermaidia is the second movie in the Fairytopia Trilogy. (Fairytopia, Fairytopia Mermaidia, Fairytopia Magic of the Rainbow.)
This movie is a must have for anyone who has a Barbie Fan in their house.
In this movie Elina must save her friend Nalu from Laverna. Along the way Elina meets new friends and must give up her precious wings to save Nalu. (Of course in the end she gets them back.)
If you are thinking about rather or not to purchase this movie I would give it a 9 out of 10!

Since the Barbie movies were released in 2001 with Barbie in The Nutcracker, to Barbie as Rapunzel, to Barbie of Swan Lake (all priors with a spin on existing stories), Magic of Pegasus, Barbie Fairytopia as the first movie with Mermadia being the sequel, Mermaidia holds a unique storyline while still centering on the famous Fairy, Alina, a true brave heroine.

One doesn't have to own or see Fairytopia to enjoy Mermadia, which makes Mermadia a sequel one can own and see on their own to appreciate. Mermadia opens with a very brief introduction of Alina, and ties in directly to the movie. You don't have to see Fairytopia to enjoy Mermaidia. However, if you did see Fairytopia, you might be more engulfed in the trials Alina goes through.

My three and a half old daughter owns the entire Barbie DVD collection. I have admired the strong heroine projected through the films, and have watched them with her, and discussed the epitomy of friendship. Especially in their latest, Mermaidia. The lead character, in Mermaidia, is a thinker, decisive, devoted to a friend and doing what's right.

I appreciate, as the Barbie movies have moved along since 2001, that a vast array of hair color, skin color, and eye color, and further are incorporated. Any parent concerned with such things would appreciate Mermadia, and it's prior Fairytopia, and unrelated, The Magic of Pegasus, and the brunette heroine in Princess and the Pauper.

Mermaidia, puts power and deep understanding into a female lead character. She decides it's right, to assist a friend who called upon her. She goes against the odds to assist that friend.

The movie is encompassing of morals, not being prejudice, and following one's calling and heart. The movie also deals with jealously issues, and other emotions that young girls need to talk about.

It is educational on an emotional level, in the sense that an adult should be present (even my husband has seen all the Barbie movies), on a growth level, that the Elmo of ABCs and others of science don't address. And, it's a heroine, a female hero, who overcomes obstacles.

Mermadia is by far, the best in graphics and socializing that the Barbie movies have contributed to.

I hope they do a full screen... in theaters, eventually.

MY DAUGHTER IS CRAZY ABOUT BARBIE.AND WHEN THEY MADE THIS MOVIE IT WAS A MUST HAVE FOR HER.SHE LOVES IT.IN THIS NEXT INSTALLMENT OF BARBIE SHE BECOMES A MERMAID IN ORDER TO SAVE HER FRIENDS LIFE.IT IS A SPIN OFF OF FAIRYTOPIA.SO IF YOUR CHILD LOVED FAIRYTOPIA THEN SHE SURE WILL LOVE THIS ONE.IT STARS THE SAME CHARATERS FROM FAIRYTOPIA BARBIE AS ELINA,BIBBLE,AND EVEN THE EVIL LAVERNA WITH THE FUNGIS.SHE MEETS NEW FRIENDS ALONG THE WAY IN ORDER TO SAVE NALU FROM LAVERNAS CLUTCHES.IT IS FULL OF SUSPENSE AND A MUST HAVE FOR ANY BARBIE LOVER...

I bought this movie for my daughter Alannah she absolutely loves barbie especially as a fairy these are wonderful movies for children .. Barbie is up against the evil Laverna for the second time and has to make a very difficult choice in order to save her friend Nalu .. can she make the right choice?

I have been looking for this DVD title for my daughter for a long time. I could not find it at any of the stores I had visited. I was happy to find the DVD and the price was very affordable.
