) This book is really good for a beginning collector of antiques or for someone who just wants to know about the history of antique periods. I honestly can't tell a Chippendale chair from a chipmonk hutch! I really wanted to learn so that I can appreciate some family heirlooms I have and know what time period they are from. This focuses on the traditional antique styles and I do wish it included more about collectibles from mid-twentieth century such as head vases, which have become popular now. I have learned that there are entire books devoted to individual collectibles. This book meets my needs for getting background knowledge in antiques that helps me decide what style of antique I am most interested in pursuing procuring.
