    Album Notes
This is the true instrumental score (background music) to the film "Batman," created by Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo. It contains a short section of Prince's song "Scandalous." For Prince's "Batman" music, see his BATMAN CD (Warner Bros. 25936).Personnel: Shirley Walker (conductor); The Sinfonia of London Orchestra.Elfman uses every trick in his even then massive arsenal to create arguably one of his best scores. Nominated for an Academy Award and winning a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition (other than Jazz), BATMAN runs through a full range of moods and ultimately triumphs as a unique action-film score. Bringing along some of his tools from BEETLEJUICE, primarily to enhance The Joker's sinister attitude, Elfman accentuates Tim Burton's vision of a reluctant, tragic hero defending a darkened, Gothic metropolis overrun by crime. However, it is in the romantic subplot that Elfman justly comes into his own. He tempers piano and soft violins with an underpinning sense of danger that surrounds every scene in the film.

    Batman: Elfman vs Prince

    Created: 24/05/09
If you consider Tim Burton's Batman a great movie, you should have both soundtracks. I am more into the score rather than the songs used in the film. So it may sound a little bias.

This is not the uber awesome-ist score you'll ever hear, but it does have enough for me to say it's very good. After having watched the movie at least 10 times, (I had the VHS and it was on tv several times), the score doesn't sound as powerful alone as it does on screen. Some score albums are powerful enough to stand listening to on its own; this one doesn't quite make it for me. Don't get me wrong, I still love listening to it and I am a Batman fan. This one is still one to get.

My favorite tracks, besides the main theme, are:
    7. Batman to the Rescue
    13. Childhood Remembered
    15. Charge of the Batmobile
    16. Attack of the Batwing
    18. Waltz to the Death
    19. Final Confrontation, The

Overall, I'm not sure how much more they could have added to make this a better album, it's already crammed with most of the movie, but it doesn't matter, it's Batman, it's Elfman, it was part of a very good movie. As a Batman fan, it's a must have.

In case you're wondering, I would want to have given this a 4.5/5 rating, and the soundtrack with the Prince songs a 3.5/5.

    Batman - Original Score

    Created: 05/04/09
If you're looking for a batman soundtrack this is likely the one. This score from the first film has the original danny elfman batman theme as well as the joker's theme, which might actually be better. If you are looking for any of the Prince tunes (Batdance anyone?), this is not what you want. Essentially all the music from the recent "Lego Batman" video game can be found on this disc. The new films starring Christian Bale have an entirely different score and theme than is found on this famous Elfman album. If you like movie scores, and the batman films then give it a shot. Otherwise, just play it safe and stick to John Williams.

Danny Elfman should be consider as a Vienna Master

    Created: 31/01/11
Since Eduard Sissor Hands to Sleepy Hollow. Danny Elfman performs master pieces of classical music. I'm a fan of Bethoven, Berlioz and Vivaldi. But I must say, Danny Elfamn already has won a place between my favorites.
The music score for Batman ( the first one directed by Tim Burton ) is a master piece. No matter if you like the Batman franchise or not. It's a must have CD.
Belive me. I know what I'm talking about.

    Great movie score!`

    Created: 04/08/08
This is a nice compilation which includes the intro movie score. Theres another cd out there that contains the soundtrack produced by Prince. This one only has the tracks used behind the movie parts like the chemical factory, the batmobile scene where it blows up the factory, the part where joker asks for a mirror, the fight scene i the tower bell, etc etc...
Great for listening while working or you can use it if your producing home grown movie scenarios.
