Product Information
Nintendo presents Battalion Wars for the Game Cube, a military action strategy game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Instead, the game presents players with a unique style of graphics and character design, fun shooter controls, and a good amount of humor. Players take on the role of a field officer in Battalion Wars. As an officer in the Western Frontier army, players find themselves battling the forces of the Tundran Empire at first, but the Empire and the Frontier quickly find themselves signing a peace treaty and uniting against the Xylvanians, a third faction that attacks both groups after they are weakened. Players then take direct control of their squad and head to the battlefield. One of the interesting aspects of Battalion Wars is that players aren’t represented by any one character. Instead, they can take control of any unit on the battlefield. This allows gamers to jump around during the battle, controlling an infantryman for a few minutes, then switching to a vehicle to perform a quick assault, then taking control of a heavily armed solider to take down a bunker. The other units, of course, continue their attacks even when the player isn’t controlling them, creating an interesting system of battle. Battalion Wars combines strategy with a third person shooter in such a way that players will enjoy. With the ability to command many different units in the same battle and plan strategies involving different units, Battalion Wars is a great humorous war game for all players.

Battalion Wars (Gamecube)

This is a very fun game that involves you being a commander in the Western Frontier army fighting against the Tundran Territories. In your missions, you can command anything from a rifle infantry to a heavily armored tank. You're in control of every one of your allies, and you have to make stratagies in order to defeat your enemy.
However, even though this game is fun, it takes a while to learn all of the controls and how to command your troops. Also, there is no multiplayer. The game would be more fun with this option.
Overall, I give this game a 5/5.

Battalion Wars GC

This game is way fun. I just like how you get to control many different unit types. It is good that you aren't just one unit the whole game. I also like how the missions are not all the same. You usually have a different objective at the start of each mission. It keeps the game interesting.
Overall it is a great game that I would recommend to all.

Battalion Wars

My son wanted a strategy game and we chose Battalion Wars. It sounded interesting and reading other reviews clued us in on some of the game play features. If you're big into Halo or Call of Duty, the realism isn't here. There's a cartoon feel to the graphics, and the story line. The voice actors and plot is good. It is entertaining, and the first levels are instructional for the way the game is played. You can pull up a map, check on opponents and their health. You can lock on and fire, take over airplanes, tanks, different grunts, flamethrowers, etc. The game gets exceedingly harder with almost every level, with the last few levels bare a bit of a struggle to finish. We felt that it was appropriately hard though.

Batallion Wars is a sweet game

It was fun, had a lot of action. Unfortunately it was short and you only get to be one type of character. Lots of action and explosions, you get to control people. Graphics are very good for GC.

Even though I've beaten the game, I will continue to keep playing it because it is alot of fun.

Good game with some key flaws

Created: 04/06/06
Love the gameplay, controls take a longer time to get used to than other games considering im coming from a predominantly Halo/Xbox background. Singleplayer is great but multiplayer doesnt even exist. I think this is the game's biggest flaw, multiplayer would be awesome. However other than that it is a solid game. My only other gripes come with the how story is so childish in execution, they seem to forget that this game is about war and the character's interactions make it seem tailored to kids under the age of 10 effectively candy-coating everything, but I thoroughly enjoyed the game at 18. Also the gamecube lacking HD output is disappointing as the game seems VERY fuzzy compared to my Xbox or 360. The fuzziness is most apparent on the menus and menu text but can be seen blatantly in-game too. Overall it's a good game that could greatly benefit from a multiplayer mode, even a campaign co-op would be huge. Hopefully there will be a sequel for the Wii and we'll get that awesome 4+ player deathmatch that we're missing.
