    Product Information
Space shooter that lets players assume the role of Ensign Adama some 40 years before the events of the original '70s television show. The story is set during a critical time for the human colonists as the war against the Cylons is coming to close. Adama has recently been assigned to the Galactica as a pilot and gamers play through the events that will shape the man who will later be Commander Adama, the captain of the last Battlestar leading a ragtag fleet of humans to their fabled homeworld called Earth. The game, developed by Warthog, is based on the 2003 Sci-Fi channel miniseries.

Being a big fan of the old T.V. series from the late 70's, I could not wait until this game hit the shelf. I read everything there was to read about it that I could find, and they claimed it was based over the T.V. series. However that is only true when it applies to a few areas. They have the original theme song from the original show (which was cool), and a lot of the chase music so to speak, that was featured during when the Colonial Warriors fought the Cylons out in space in the ships. And they have the old logo from the show of course, but that is where it ends pretty much. Odd coincidence though they have Dirk Benedict who was Starbuck in the original show and Richard Hatch who played Apollo doing voice over work for a few characters, but not their own characters from the show. Pretty stupid huh? But wait...it gets better.

The characters that we know and love are not on this game. This supposedly takes place years before any of them existed and has Adama who was Apollo's father as the main character in this with a bunch of other made up characters. But what's that old saying about not letting the facts get in the way of a good story.... The game itself is pretty tough, so be prepared to be challenged when playing it, and make sure you are well stocked on a lot of Excedrin Migraine medicine during your time playing it. There are very few save points during the game and some of these levels, well...to say are tricky would be an incredible understatement. The graphics and voice over work especially for the Cylons is great.

I will say they did work hard I think to try and bring the reality of what the Colonial Warriors went through fighting the Cylons in space from the T.V. show to life, and they excelled at that well. The ships look very detailed as well as the planets and space. But it's one of those games you can't help but wonder if the creator actually intended and wanted someone to beat. But if you like games that are first person and games where you can fly ships and use a series of cool weapons mixed with good graphics and animation, then this game is right up your alley.

    Battlestar Galactica

    Created: 21/11/08
Battlestar Galactica gets instant credibility among longtime fans of the TV series who've been waiting for a modern videogame adventure. We're not sure which came first, the decision to make it a space combat shooter or the decision to have space combat shooter veterans Warthog develop it. Either way, Battlestar Galactica comes off as the best space combat shooter on the Xbox and one of the better efforts available on PS2. The problem is the genre of space shooters doesn't have the same appeal as it used to. Warthog's experience with games like Starlancer ensured that the game would feel like you're piloting a spaceship and not just blasting away in every direction like some wall-less version of Quake but we've done this many times before. The re-envisioned Battlestar Galactica license that puts Adama at the center of the struggle between humans and Cylons may not have the flash and star power of Starbuck and Apollo, but there's enough here to get you all misty-eyed about the search for that bright shining star called Earth.

It's a great game, arguiably the last great space shooter made. It's a prequel to the Battlestar Reimagined, even includes a trailer to the series. Some visuals show it was a vision in the making, but the look and feel of BSG reimagined are there already. I'm so happy I bought this!

for those who like Battlestar Galactic francise this game is packed full of fun but it tends to be a little complicated at first utilizing every button on the controller. You will need an excellent hand eye coordination and the ability to multitask will be handy. This game is not for the young as it is difficult but it is a fun game to play.

You start out as the young adama...which is pretty cool going back to the begining...it starts out with the defence of the galactica...i don't know about anyone else, but when it comes to sims..or any kind of platform, my patients wares thin when you have to defend or escort anything...i much rather do the attacking...but sill, there is lots of that too..controls are a little complicated..but like all games you get used to it..
