Bearing an Hourglass

The second book of the Incarnations of Immortality series is an excellent read. The concepts Piers Anthony bring to the whole series is as entertaining as it is original. In this book, the subject is Chronos, The Incarnation of Time, and his battles to triumph over Satan, the Incarnation of Evil. Each Incarnation has his or her flaw and limitation. In this case the special effect is the manner of Chronos' life: he lives backwards. One of the twists throughout the series is the Incarnation of Time's forgetfulness of when things happen. It adds just enough humor to make things interesting. One hint for new readers: read this series in order!

Good fantasy read

If you like Piers Anthony or any sci-fi fantasy novels, this series (Incarnations of Immortality) is a good one, though personally I preferred the first book in the series to this one. I'm hoping the third will be better than this book; I have high expectations. This book is excellent, don't get me wrong, but the first novel, I feel, was better.

This was the hardest book of them all to understand and really get into, but it is crucial to the series. Time moves any direction it chooses, but reality onmly moves one way. In this book you get a feel for the trials that the incarnation of time must undergo to understand his job and do it well. Excellent series!
