Movie synopsis

In this animated feature with the Fab Four, the magical Pepperland is invaded by the Blue Meanies, who have declared war on all that is good--especially music. At the request of a befuddled emissary from Pepperland, the lads from Liverpool take a ride in their yellow submarine to aid the besieged residents in their battle.Peter Max designed the distinctive look of the animation, and the real-live Beatles themselves appear in a brief sequence at the film's end. Includes the songs "Yellow Submarine," "Just A Northern Song," "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Eleanor Rigby," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "Nowhere Man," "A Day in the Life," and others, as well as several orchestral numbers by noted Beatle producer George Martin.

Yellow Submarine Would be "torpedoed" today!

Created: 20/03/10
First of all; I am a HUGE and LIFELONG (almost) Beatles Fan. I was 14 years old when the Fab Four invaded our American Shores and I was hooked as soon as I bought my first '45 RPM record' of I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND. This silly, little cartoon is brilliant because of its simplicity. Music is good and of course the exchanges of conversation between the various Beatles and how they are each depicted are interesting aspects of this animated feature. Judged by today's standards the flick would be laughable but for a true Beatles fan this is a snapshot of a different time; so its very simplicity becomes its brilliance. Is it like 'UP' or 'LION KING' or 'THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG'? Of course not! But it is a great display of the art-forms of the day and it is, after all, THE BEATLES! "Good show Lads!"

In my opinion it is the best movie that the Beatles made. Good animation (Peter Max, I think), great music, cute story. In this movie the Beatles become Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as they battle the blue meanies. A 'must have' for any Beatles lover!

A Classic...

For some reason unknown to me, les and less Beatles DVDs are available. I had always looked at "Yellow Submarine" in the stores, but it was never one of those under $20.00 DVDs, rather it always hovered around $30.00.
I still ask my 21 year old daughter each year for a Christmas list. Often it includes movies and music, and this year it included "Yellow Sub". When going to purchase from a popular on-line retailer, I discovered it was no longer in print!
Ebay to the rescue!
Since I didn't have it either, I purchased two copies!
This is a classic animated film for children of the 60's, as well as kids of today, and I cannot understand why it isn't available.

Forever a Classic

I have been exposed to The Beatles since a very young age, and have always adored this particular movie. The film is beautiful, and captures the very essence of the 1960's. The only complaint that I wish to observe about this particular DVD is that during the scene "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," the film freezes. Thankfully, by fast-forwarding it, the film continues with the adventures of the "Fab Four," with the viewer only missing the very end of the previous song. Overall, I'd suggest this film to any person, whether he/she be an avid Beatles fan or not. This film is enjoyable for all ages, and absolutely transcends time.

beatles simply the best

the beatles were from a long time ago.they are history.their music is old!yet compared to so much rock/pop of today they are refreshing.i bought the dvd at the request of my seven year old twins.this has become their favorite music group.they in the past (the twins)have listened to the moody blues, radio disney.and other general rock music that passes through the dad sensor as apporpeat.to them the beatles are from now.they are new.they are fresh.now when we are in the car its beatles by request.at home its yellow sub thats considered the best.and after all of these years of listening to and watching the latest and newest rock.i have to agree with them.the beatles are the best and its all fresh, new and fun.this dvd should be in everyone collection and i highly recomend it for children.if you havnt watched/listened to the beatles in a long time like most of us.you will be surprised how great they sound and how fun this movie is,
