Beauty and the Beast - The Complete Second Season (DVD, 2007)

Linda Hamilton, Ron Perlman|Theatrical release: 1988|Rating: Not Rated

Movie synopsis

A time-tested fairytale received a modern-day update--and made an unlikely sex symbol of bearish actor Ron Perlman--in the late-1980s television drama BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Created by Ron Koslow (BIRDS OF PREY), the series centered on the love between New York district attorney Catherine Chandler (Linda Hamilton, THE TERMINATOR) and a deformed but chivalric man-beast named Vincent (Perlman, CITY OF LOST CHILDREN), who lived in the city's labyrinthine underground passageways along with an entire community of fellow outcasts. As Catherine's crime-fighting duties frequently placed her in mortal danger, Vincent was there to save her from harm and share a star-crossed love that could never be consummated, providing the series with much of its achingly romantic appeal. Fueled by equal parts mystery, romance, and fantasy, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is resurrected in this collection that presents the series' second season in its entirety.

Positive Perspective Beauty and the Beast Second Season

Created: 26/07/08
The 1980s television series "Beauty and the Beast" is my favorite subject for discussion. The Second Season DVDs are just as beautifully digitally remastered as the first season was and have the addition of wonderful commentaries by the two main stars of the series, Ron Perlman, who plays Vincent (The Beast), and Linda Hamilton, who plays Catherine Chandler (Beauty). This season of the series chronicles the ever continuing love story developing between Vincent, the Beast who lives in caves and tunnels under the streets of New York City, and Catherine Chandler, an investigative lawyer working in the District Attorney’s office. It masterfully portrays how they battle evil together, as well as the differences between their 2 worlds, in a continuing effort to stay in love through all adversities.

Because of my love of "Beauty and the Beast," I began writing a novel which is a sequel to this series in early July of 2007. I completed and published it in May of 2008. The title of my book is "Love’s Journey to Awakening—Beauty and the Beast—Happily Ever After." I wrote it under my pen name, Laurel Cain Haws, and my editor is Dr. Thayle K. Anderson, an English professor emeritus from Murray State University. He is a trusted friend, and a colleague of my beloved late husband, Dr. Gary L. Haws, who was my “Vincent.”

My book has a very specific target audience, those who loved this series starring Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton, and hated its premature demise with its tragic ending. My book fixes that. It doesn’t change the ending. It begins where the series ends and changes the outcome, so it has an happy ending and perhaps a new beginning for more stories about these beloved characters.

If that idea appeals to you, it is essential that you watch all 3 seasons before reading my book. Even if you saw them when they first aired almost 20 years ago, you really need to review and watch them again in order to fully understand and appreciate my book. I never get tired of watching them, and I hope that you will enjoy seeing these characters come back to life with a new story line.

The questions from the series that my novel answers are:
1. Is Catherine Chandler (Beauty) really dead?
2. Where did Vincent (the Beast) really come from?
3. Can there be an happy ending to a modern day fairy tale that starts out, “Once Upon a Time in the City of New York?”

Buy all three seasons of the series that are now available. Then visit my website, where you can download a free copy of my entire novel. My website link can be accessed at kandycain1587 “Me” here on eBay. The timeline and characters are very precious to me, and I was very careful with them. I hope that you will enjoy reading my book as much as I enjoyed writing it. Karen L. Haws

The unfinished story of Beauty and the Beast

Created: 04/10/07
I have enjoyed watching Beauty and the Beast for 20 years. I often felt like the story was never finished and always hoped that one day someone would step up to the plate, take the bull by the horns and continue the love affair. I even contemplated writing this unfinished series, but never felt worthy enough. I am elated that someone has enough gumption to do this. My wildest dreams would be to see this as a series again or even a movie. I would love to see Ron Pearlman and Linda Hamilton together again. Perhaps the original producers, etc. (anyone that was involved in this) could make my dream (along with many others) come true. I look forward to reading any future book that may come out. I still have my old VHS tapes from self-recording the TV shows and now I have all 2 seasons on DVD as well. Come on season 3 and "The Evolution of Beauty and the Beast"!!!!!

Beauty and the Beast - The Complete Second Season

Created: 22/06/08
Again, the fantasy romance continues in the second season. They share a love that is not physical, but is deep in their hearts. The beast senses when she is in danger and she senses when he need her persence. He reads beautiful stories to her listens with not only her ears, but her heart as well. Again, I purchased this dvd to relive the love story between these Catherine and Vincent.

This second season Beauty and the Beast DVD set is a gem. The episodes are even better than the first season as the characters' backgrounds are revealed in more depth and adventures take them in many different places. The special interview commentaries by Linda Hamilton (Catherine) and Ron Perlman (Vincent) are a plus. For any fan of the show it is an absolute MUST!The Beast is unleashed with even more fury protecting his love and the relationship between the Beauty and the Beast progresses.Well worth it..you won't be disappointed.

My Once Lost Series is Found

Created: 09/01/08
When this series was first aired on network tv (CBS) BACK IN THE 1980s, I was in my teens, and I only saw and remeber vaugely a few episodes from season one:

the pilot episode and another episode where Vincent and Catherine were out on Halloween and another episode when black guy was the subway avenger.

I have missed that series so much and finally decided to search for it on ebay.
I bought the first 2 seasons and will get the final one when it is available.

I like the series because of it's intersting, well thought out plots and all the actors/characters worked well together to make the show work.
None of the episodes were a disappointment, however, I think that the character Catherine can be a little stubborn or naive when it comes to dealing with Vincent when his viciousness takes over, such as in the last episode of the 2nd season titled "The rest is silence".

I like the addition of the interviews of the leading actors, Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton as they gave background on the plot of some of the episodes and how their characters deal with the situations at hand.

I think this series is an excellent addition to my collection and will cherish and play them for years to come.

Thanks for reading.
