    Movie synopsis

Lesson soon to be learned: If one with a musical disposition happens upon an odd-looking dog all by its lonesome and seemingly in danger, he or she should do the right thing and save it. That's what Koyuki--the 14-year-old protagonist of this slice-of-life anime series--does, and it affords him the opportunity to meet the dog's up-and-coming rock musician owner. He in turn inspires Koyuki to learn to play the guitar and eventually start a punk-rapcore band with his best friends. Over the following years, Koyuki, his perverted buddy, and their sought-after female friend come of age in this enthralling 26-episode series.

    Excellent series worth watching!

    Created: 09/02/11
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad was my first "slice of life" anime series I have watched and I was thoroughly impressed with the entire series. The series covers a small handful of years in the life of Koyuki (coy-u-key) Tanaka and his development as a person and a musician in a rock band Beck. Beginning with his 14th year and lacking direction Koyuki meets a talented musician Ryusuke (rye-oos-kay) who introduces Koyuki to the world of rock music. Developing as a musician, dealing with bullies, and sorting out feelings for girls are just small parts to this series. I found myself growing fond of all the characters and really looked forward to the next episode. A real departure from the expected fare of giant robots and sword fights, Beck is a real treat for those looking for a good story and interesting characters.

Overall the anime has very little "fan service" (these are gratuitous and unnecessary panty shots and the like) and the few that do pop up are blended well into the story and do not seem to be excessive. There is no sex or full body nudity and very little to no violence. There is bad language in the English dub, but though it is harsh language (the "F" word and such) it seems to fit the characters and story very well without being overbearing or excessive.

BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad - The Complete Series

    Created: 15/02/11
To put it simply one of the best anime I've seen in a while. It's all about music and basically that's my life and I could really relate to this show. It's all about a 15 year old kid joining a band. It started off with him not knowing a single note for the guitar and as the show continues on, he gets better and better. Got hooked to BECK and can't get enough of it. Glad I bought the complete series and I got to say that every penny paid was well worth it. Thanks

    Beck Review

    Created: 11/04/11
The series Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad is amazing. The references to the gods of Rock N Roll as well as the influences in the songs is almost spot on. If you like rock music and a great story line you'll love this series.

    Great Series

    Created: 04/11/10
Beck is awesome. I went through the entire series in a day or so, and have just started it again. The animation takes a while to get used to, as it is slightly rougher than Naruto or Bleach, but, the lips match up with what's being said more often than not. So the focus is on the story, and not on trying to ignore the flaws. As far as the story is concerned, it is that of a band forming. You could expand that description, but, that is the gist of it. The music they play is great, and the singers do it justice. An all around great series.
