I just bought this book for my daughter-in-law as she prepares to welcome her first child.

let me say that I had 3 children when I was pretty young and inexperienced. I didn't have any tools like this book. If I had, I think I would have been a much happier (and better?) mom.

the stress of living according to my child's schedule was incredible. I never knew WHY he was crying! And when you have a child that suffers from something like colic, I think this book would even more invaluable.

I received this book as a gift from a friend when I was expecting my 4th child. With the guidance of this book, my last two children slept thru the night so quickly! Sleep is so important! Not only to the mother, but to the baby!! They have always slept soundly and peacefully thru the night and only have problems when they are sick! This sure makes it easy for me to determine if/when they are sick! (they are now 8 and 11 years old).

Scheduling your child is the kindest thing you can do for them -- and for the rest of your family!

I highly recommend this book. And even tho it was difficult to let them cry thru the night to learn to soothe themselves, it is worth it. My youngest one had 2 tough nights. Only 2! And then he settled in and slept so well. What a blessing.

You should definitely read this book -- cover to cover. Get the jist of what he is recommending. If it isn't for you, then let it go. I can't promise the same results that I experienced, I can just say that this book made a tremendous difference in my life. I am the mother of 5 children from age 26 down to 8.

This book is a good Guideline for taking care of your infant. I say guideline, because every baby and every parent is different. Sometimes the "cookie cut" recipes for success need to be modified and tailored to fit the unique differences of the family, addressing flexibility and individuality are just as important as structure and schedule. Keeping this in mind while reading, one can definitely find success with Baby Wise.

Do research before using this book

As a mother of three and being heavily involved in my MOPS group, I get a lot of feedback from mothers. Many wish they had not read this book- it caused them a lot of guilt and extra stress. Also, there are many mothers I know who's first baby fit into Ezzo's schedule and then when the second baby came and did not fit into the schedule, they realized their first just happened to. Therefore, by the third, they have completely thrown out this program. Not everything is bad with Ezzo but what is unique to Ezzo is not good. The most informational website to do your research is www.ezzo.info The list of critics is overwhelming.
The most helpful book I found (which I did not read until my third child) is Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry Sleep Solution. It's a great idea book and you can create your own sleep plan that wokrs for your family and your baby.
