    Movie synopsis

In the surreal, wonderfully cartoon-like comedy BEETLEJUICE, a childless couple, Barbara and Adam (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin), move to the country only to be killed in a car accident while passing over a quaint covered bridge. Their ghosts return to their beloved Victorian home, and find the HANDBOOK FOR THE RECENTLY DECEASED, which not only lets them know they're dead, but comes in handy when they learn that they can continue to live in their house, even though a new family--from the land of the living--is moving in. The new owners, fresh from the city, are quite a strange group themselves, and include the overpowering hipster mom Delia (Catherine O'Hara), her pompous SoHo interior designer Otho (Glenn Shadix), her meek husband Charles (Jeffrey Jones), and their morose teenage daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder), who befriends the ghostly couple. Though the threesome attempt to scare Delia from ruining the house with redecoration and her unpleasant personality, their attempts fail. As a last resort, they call upon the services of the demented, terrifying, but hilarious "bioexorcist," "Beetlejuice" (Michael Keaton). Director Tim Burton scores big with witty site gags, incredible special effects and sets, and a unique ensemble of characters. BEETLEJUICE is a visually inventive and imaginative comedy taken to a uniquely grotesque and funny level by the manic performance of Michael Keaton in the title role.

4 stars out of 5 -- "[W]hat counts here is the outlandish special effects, the genius set-pieces and the now typically Burton view of the afterlife as an extension of the everyday."

"Tim Burton's second feature has Michael Keaton doing a sensational star turn in the title role of a self-styled bio-exorcist. After two decades the film remains one of the funniest ghost stories ever made."

My daughter's obsessed! She loves Beetlejuice!

    Created: 07/10/06
OK, this is a classic, and my disabled daughter, now 19 but functioning at about a 12 yr. old level, LOVES Beetlejuice! We even built a scale model town, complete with a graveyard and covered bridge to let BJ come live with us! He's currently under his gravestone in our living room! When this movie came out, my daughter was a baby and my two stepsons, then ages 5 and 10, were obsessed with Beetlejuice, too! I think it's because it laughs at fear, makes fun of stuffy snobs and still satisfies kids' cravings for gorey grossness! Plus, it has a great ending! Back then, I couldn't appreciate it, but now, I can watch it over and over and STILL LAUGH!... and there aren't many movies I can watch more than once. Tim Burton, the director, is a genius, as far as I'm concerned.

OK, so, if you've never seen Beetlejuice, you're in a for a real treat! Especially now that Halloween's coming! Get some popcorn, turn out the lights, and boogie down with the Beetleman! But don't say his name three times, or you're in for some trouble by a guy who doesn't work well with others! lol!

    great tim burton film

    Created: 29/03/08
i dont like tim burton films but this one is one of my all time favorite movies. its very cleverly written and has some great quotes. its imaginative on the line of being macabre but mantains being funny without depressing somehow. and the cast is a funny mix of people. the principal from ferris buellers day off, the mother from home alone. the part with the possession and dancing to the music at the dinner party leaves me crying with laughter every single time, its just so funny! even if you dont like tim burton movies watch this

    Beetlejuice, used DVD'S

    Created: 02/05/07
My son likes alot of older movies, which at 7 years old he watchs over and over (as all you with kids know about). The used DVD'S on ebay are good priced and we have never had any problems with any we have ordered most look and play like new. Beetlejuice is a fun, freindly ghost story (it is not scary). It is a very upbeat movie for any age and highly recommended. This is a must see movie for family night, just don't forget the popcorn !!!

    Another Tim Burton Favorite!

    Created: 16/07/10
I remember first watching this at an older friends house who had taped it off television, I think I was only about 7. It immediately became one of my favorite movies. I'd always ask to watch it when I went over to "play" at her house. Now I'm so glad to own it on DVD which I am replacing all of my VHS movies. It brings back so many memories. This is probably one of the most twisted storylines ever with hilarious acting and unforgettable fantasy. I also sometimes still find it creepy. I think Winona Ryder (love her!) was perfectly cast for her part, she is so mysterious and interesting. I love watching it with a bunch of people on or around Halloween. Buy it, you'll love it!

    Beetlejuice

    Created: 01/09/08
I enjoy this movie so much with Michael Keaton in it. I have had several copies of this movie over the years. Continually watch it when the mood strikes. Which i can say is very often. I just know that they don't make movies like this anymore. It still makes me laugh at all the funny parts, even though i have seen it hundreds of times.
