A must-have for every Calcutta-fan
Created: 02/02/11
A wonderful film about the 1930's-Calcutta, life in a Bengali family,
Indian culture and a forbidden-love-story between the British engineer Alan
(Hugh Grant) and the 16-year-old Calcuttan Gayatri (Supriya Pathak), the eldest daughter of his Indian employer. Gayatri's mother is no one else than India's
superstar Shabana Azmi who more than excellently plays her role in this East-meets-West clash of Indian and British culture.
Very advisable also to see the Special features including phto gallery and background informatio about Calcutta and the making of "Bengali Night"
