The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies (DVD, 2005, 4-Disc Set)

For starters I have to rank this set as excellent because it helped me relive my childhood.
The set consists of 4 DVDs which include 15 of the original 25 Scooby Doo movies. The picture quality is decent, but there is some dust and debris noticeable in the final print. It seems to stick out a little more on my LCD HDTV and blu-ray player. The mono soundtrack was expected and is OK.

The set features the Scooby Doo gang along side some of the comedians of the 60s/70s. You will get team-ups with Don Knotts, Don Adams, Dick Van Dyke and Mama Cass Elliott. You also get team-ups with Batman & Robin, the Harlem Globetrotters and the Three Stooges to name a few.

Set includes a few extras, the coolest one being a small lithograph animation cel from one of the episodes.
My only gripe with this set is that it's a "Best Of" and does not include all the movies. I assume there was some legal issues involved getting some of the other episodes to this set. You miss the adventures with Tim Conway, Sandy Duncan, Phyllis Diller, Sonny & Cher, Jerry Reed, The Addams Family, and surprisingly two matchups with other Hanna Barbera characters Genie & Babu, and Josie and the Pussy Cats.

Parents will find this set another great addition to the child that can't live without Scooby Doo. The episodes are a little longer than the Scooby Doo Where Are You? set. These episodes were originally an hour long when they aired and are now around 45 minutes. each disc includes a play-all feature and comes in a nice case that keeps the discs from getting scratched.

Looking forward to (hopefully) a best of Volume 2! Full retail for this set is $50. A carefull look around the web and you can enjoy it at a much less pain to your wallet.

Also bought this set for the kids (2&4). This set contains some of the all time best episodes. Each has a special guest star or stars including The Harlem Globetrotters, Don Knotts, The Stooges and more. The kids have no idea who the stars are, but don't seem to mind. I on the other hand remember all these from my childhood and enjoy watching them all again with my children. A great collection of a truly classic cartoon thats entertaining for all ages.

My four old son loves everything Scooby Doo. This DVD set provided me an opportunity to get some episodes that my son had never seen before. This is something that has become increasingly harder to do. This set includes 15 one hour epsiodes that feature different celebrities including Don Knotts, the Three Stooges, and many more. My son has no idea who the celebrities are but he does enjoy the shows. Holding a four old's attention is not the easiest thing in the world to do and I am very happy with the shows here. He did have some of them (I.E. the Globetrotters meet Scooby Doo) already that were released on other dvds. I would say that at least 10 of the 15 were new to him. It is great to bring along in the car for any type of road trip. He is occupied and content. It is also easy for the parents to watch with the kids also. In a time when cartoons can be a little inappropriate, these are safe for all kids. The only draw back to this dvd set is that it does not contain all the Scooby Doo celebrity movies. It is 15 of the best. Sit back, take a trip back to the early 70's and enjoy. It is money well spent.

The title reads "Best of..." but there are some goodies missing here. The repeat appearances just take up room for far better episodes such as "Wednesday is Missing," "Phantom of the Country Music Hall," "Haunted Showboat," and "Mystery in Persia" (Addams, Jerry Reed, Josie, and Jeannie, respectively). At least both Batman episodes are here, as is the The Three Stooges' "Ghostly Ghost Town" episode and "Weird Winds of Winonna" (Speed Buggy).

Due to problems with purchasing the rights to the remaining films, these are the fifteen episodes that we are being presented with. Similarly, the opening credits have been altered to omit the guest cameos (the only missing guests from the intro were the Addams Family). This is something of a shame because of all of Scooby's reincarnations, I loved "the movies" the most (with 77's Scooby Doo Show being a close second).

This one, if found for a decent price, is for hard core Scooby fans because Scooby is Scooby in any shape or form. Enjoy.

This Scooby episodes are just such a classic and even though the style of animation is obsolete it doesn't matter because you watch this for it's nostalgia and novelty value and of course the memories.Yes the memories! I watched this when I was a kid whether on a sunny afternoon or a rainy day,I still watch it today and it's a good stress buster when you're having a bad day after work or a good creature feature on those latenight tv watching! Pick your copy if you're a scooby doo fan like I am because it is really worth to have this collection and because they are so timeless!
