It was a recipe for perceived failure, and although Forbert released four very decent albums for CBS Records between 1978 and 1982 and hit the Top 20 with the infectious "Romeo's Tune" in 1979, he was dropped from his contract with the label. This set packages some of the key tracks from his CBS years and adds four live cuts and a previously unreleased one, the intriguing "Samson and Delilah's Beauty Shop," to make a good introduction to this underappreciated singer and songwriter's early years. ~ Steve Leggett

What Kinda Guy - music by Steve Forbertm Laurel MS

    Created: 10/08/07
Steve Forbert is another fellow Mississipian like Elvis, B.B. King, and countless others. He may not be as well known, but if he were performing for an audience compiled of these and other greats like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, and the like, I am confident all would say that Mr. Forbert has something significant to say and a musically honest way of putting his ideas across. I have always loved great musical short stories, and it is my opinion that Steve is a great musical short story writer and performer. Take a chance that he will touch too by buying this CD. My money is bet that you will like him.
