I bought this to replace a flakey ASUS HD4870 Dark Knight Edition video card that I had to send back for RMA, twice. This card has about equal the performance, if not more than, the card it replaced. I've played Batman Arkham Asylum and Left 4 Dead 2 on it at the highest settings with no problem. Eventually I found it was better suited for my hackintosh..runs games in OS X great! It does run a little warm, but its still much quieter than the HD4870 I had. I got a bit of a bargain with my buy because I received the BFG GTX 280 overclocked version with a slightly higher 615MHz clock speed rather than the stock 602Mhz. At a little over $100, its a great buy, either way.

    Two drawbacks:

    (1) does not support anything newer than DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, Open GL 3.1 (IMO you won't notice the difference since you're running DVI monitors at best)

    (2) large power draw compared to newer cards (i.e., GTX 550ti) (IMO you should be running more than enough power for this anyway- get a good PSU)

BFG GTX 280 - Capture the Legends While they Last

I bought this video card to go SLI with my Zotac Amp GTX 280 in my custom built PC. It preforms better than expected as all BFG cards have that I've bought in the past. It's already overclocked. The Zotac 280 is slightly faster than the BFG 280 but the Zotac also costs more. The 280 video cards are much larger than other video cards and would not fit in a small tower. Make sure your tower can fit it, mid to full towers should work fine. As far as video cards go I wouldn't settle for anything other than a BFG or Zotac. This is probably the last series of video cards BFG made, as they have ascended to a higher calling of making custom PCs. In conclusion if you need a new video card and you find a GTX 280 model BFG card you should try to snare it!
