Smith reveals another hint of vulnerability on "Forever," when he describes his girlfriend: "She...makes me feel that forever is a possibility."What distinguishes BIG WILLIE STYLE, though, are the same playful mood and nimble rhymes that characterized Smith's DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince days. He describes his modus operandi on the lyrically dexterous "Yes, Yes Y'all:" "I rip rhymes for the flow of it/you know the show of it/not the Benz 600 four-door of it/I'm-a rhyme regardless of earnin' long as my heart keeps yearnin'/I got's to keep burnin'."

Editorial Reviews
...BIG WILLIE STYLE isn't high on INDEPENDENCE DAY caliber stunts--it's what you'd expect from a rapper who also happens to be one of the most popular actors in the world...
The Source (19971201)

...The saving grace of the former Fresh Prince is that, as an MC, he's never taken himself too seriously....BIG WILLIE STYLE's wisecracking, fun-filled material is expected--and fun to digest...
Vibe (19980201)

3 stars out of 5 - ...Packed with impossibly summery hits...this film star really can rap.
Q (20011001)

3.5 Stars (out of 5) - ...crackles with the lucid energy of early-'80s rap hits....he displays the confident craft of a screenwriter and the unthreatened bounce of a guy with little to prove....an exceptional megacelebrity album.

Big Willie says it all, I guess...

Created: 10/07/06
Will decided not to change his style much on Big Willie Style, the first record he released since having major hits at the box office with Independence Day and Men in Black. Instead of trying to toughen his image, Smith continued with the friendly, humorous pop-rap that has been his trademark since He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper.

Good music from a Good man

Created: 04/08/06
Will Smith puts so much of his feelings and his life into his music. The songs on Big Willie Style are not too dirty or filled with offensive words. It's the same humor and beats from back in the day with the Fresh Prince. This CD will not be embarrassing for children to hear. This says a lot the kind of father Will Smith is!

Reason Why My Son Likes Rap

Created: 09/08/06
This album is the reason why my son (age 13) likes and is allowed to listen to rap. So much of whats publicized and played on the popular radio is what I label as "trash talk" rap. We don't allow the language, the negative lifestyle or attitudes - in fact we teach against them - so why would allow the music? Yet we want our child exposed to different genres, cultures and emotions of music. Will Smith has talent, emotion and mixes hip-hop with sounds that every one can appreciate. My son listened to this CD and was hooked right away! Now we hunt for other "clean" rap and hip-hop. Thanks Will!

Summertime, Big Willie Style

Created: 03/05/07
While I myself am not a hip hop fan, my wife had wanted this disc for some time for a number of songs on it she had heard and liked. Upon listening to it, I must say I was pleasantly surprised that there are a number of songs on it I like, too. Overall, the album's laidback groove and easy-going vocal style fit the summertime mood that Will Smith shoots for here. The "intro" is a bit jarring, but once you're past that, the tunes slide along, making for an excellent soundtrack for riding in the car on a warm summer day.
