Top notch!
Created: 08/02/10
It's going to be a familiar experience for anyone that played the original, but BioShock 2's improvements to gameplay and its more focused storyline make for a game that's more playable and easier to digest. Some of the sense of awe and mystery is lost in transition, but the strength of the setting and more interesting implementation of moral choice make for an experience that's more consistent and rewarding. Anyone looking for a first-person shooter that offers more than flat, stereotypical characters and copy-and-paste supersoldier plots, one that attempts to establish a sense of right and wrong and loops you into the decision making process, and one that's set in one of the most vividly realized settings around should pick up BioShock 2. It's a game in which story, setting, and gameplay are expertly blended to create an experience that's as thought-provoking as it is entertaining.
9.5 Presentation
A focused storyline, strong characters, clear moral choice mechanics, great story delivery, and a well-implemented overall cohesion of theme throughout the entire product.
9.0 Graphics
Not as impressive as the first game, but the unmistakable art style prevails, making Rapture one of the visually dense and interesting settings around.
9.0 Sound
The effects, music, and voice acting are all top notch and effectively reinforce the mood and feel of the world.
9.0 Gameplay
A host of refinements and tweaks, from hacking to the way weapons and plasmids work, to enhance the flow of gameplay and keep you rooted in the action. A great experience from start to finish.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
A top tier single-player mode that's entertaining the whole way through and a surprisingly fun multiplayer suite with plenty of unlocks and reasons to keep playing.
9.1 Outstanding OVERALL

BioShock 2 Personal Review
Created: 20/08/10
great game bought this it a couple of weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the story line, graphics, action and verity of story outcomes. It has various difficulties levels as well as multiple story endings depending on you choices in the game. if you like single player 1st person action, no hold bar, addicting game, you need to get this. Once you start playing you can't set your controller down. You will be hooked, in a good way, lol. Also once you beat the game, it leaves you in wonderment on whats going to happen, P.S just so you know the BioShock saga is not over, xbox live just released a teaser for a new BioShock, no date was give for the release of the game, but in my opinion its going to be even better then the previous games.
I give this game 5 stars, get it!

Intriguing campain and fun online multiplayer
Created: 16/03/10
Pros: If you played the first one it is almost exactly like it. Only you do play as a "Big Daddy" in this one and there are improvements. New plasmids, new characters, as well as a new rival to replace what the Big Daddy was in the first one.
Cons: Online multiplayer is tricky. Maps are hard to get familiar with. And glitchy.
I won't tell any spoilers but if you liked the first one, you'll love the campaign in this. A little knowledge of the first storyline will take you a lot more into it but not completely needed. In this one you find out your own origins as well as the true origins of Rapture and all of it's dirty secrets.
The levels are very similar but have changed over ten years and in a different part of Rapture. The new tools, plasmids, and genes make this a very enjoyable game.
Playing online is very hard to get familiar with. I still have a hard time navigating the maps. But usually it is always run into the next room and fight type of scenario. It is very fun, with almost no lag. Level up to unlock attachments, plasmids, genes, and trials (challenges to level up further).
My only problem I have had with this game is two glitches. All of my friends have experienced just one of these. The first one, that I alone have encountered, is sometimes during the campaign I find that after using a vita-chamber I am unable to look. Every other control works fine but the sight. Saving in the pause menu, jumping to the dashboard, and then back to the game to load up the save fixed it every time. The other glitch, is sometimes during online game play, it will freeze up. The same steps with the other will fix this one as well. But you've lost any of the score you had and you can't just jump back into the match you were in.
Another thing which I am unsure I can blame on the game, my connection, or lack of players online at the time of trying, is that I have a HARD time getting it to find a match. But it seems like if I find one match, every search after that brings results almost instantly.
I love this game, and will continue to play it online and finish the other difficulty play throughs, and achievements.
If you haven't tried it, at least rent it or find a great price for it here on eBay.

Pretty good. But not as good as the 1st.

I liked this game alot. The reason why it got 4/5 is because I think it turned up short when compared to the 1st Bioshock. Pros- Action is intense and amazing. The new abilities like duel wielding a plamid and a weapon are cool. The new weapons are cool as well. Cons- Really no new plasimds. They are much more improved but arnt anything new. No new enemies types as well except a few new big daddies, one or two more splicers and the new big sister. The thing that I dislike the most is the presentation of the story and the game. The 1st game had probably the most amazing openings ever in videogames and there was always a jaw dropping moment around every corner. I can't say there was really that many in this game. Plus their is little to no reference to your character from the 1st game. There is little to any reference to the 1st game actually. Most of the background characters like Steinmen or Sullivan are not discussed and not any of there radio diaries are around. Ryan has a different voice actor which is stupid. I also thought the new radio diaries were boring and stupid. I know alot about the bioshock series and this game actually created alot of inconsistinses when it comes to bioshock logic. Other than those things aside it was a very good game. I highly suggest you buy it or rent it first to try it out. This and the orignal are a must in any gamers video game libary.
(Remember- This is MY PERSONAL opinion.)

Like the first? Like the second...

I got this because I saw the preview of part three and I didn't want to miss anything. For those who played the first one, BS2 plays like a true sequel where the story and gameplay are very close to the first.
I gave this an average rating because there was nothing spectacular about it but there are some cool features added to combat.
Graphics are great and addition of the character shadow has you looking over your shoulder.
Sound in 5.1 surround added to the spooky factor but also lets you hear where the spooks are coming from. Its that crisp.
Multiplayer? I don't play it... But its in there.
Over all, first timers to Bioshock 2 will like he game play but may get lost if paying attention to the story.
