    Album Notes
Cradle Of Filth includes: Dani Filth (vocals); Paul Allender (guitar); Adrian, Gian, Martin Foul, Robin Graves.Additional personnel includes: Libitina Grimm (cello).Recorded at New Rising Studios, Peldon, Essex.Originally intended to be an EP, Bitter Suites to Succubi found Cradle of Filth inspired to stretch the release into a beast of full-length proportions. With that in mind, Bitter Suites is, unsurprisingly, a somewhat tossed salad of Cradle of Filth tracks: four top-shelf new originals (""All Hope in Eclipse,"" ""Born in a Burial Gown,"" ""Suicide and Other Comforts,"" and ""Scorched Earth Erotica"") mingle with three re-recordings of The Principle of Evil Made Flesh-era cuts (""Summer Dying Fast,"" ""The Principle of Evil Made Flesh,"" and ""The Black Goddess Rises II""), a cover of a Sisters of Mercy tune (""No Time to Cry""), and two instrumental tracks. Longtime Cradle-ites will want to grab Bitter Suites to Succubi to better understand the band's compositional growth (if not for the cleverly punned title alone). ~ John Serba

    Editorial Reviews
...Another side of black metal beef to sink your vampire teeth into...featuring re-recordings of classic Cradle cuts...Haunting female vocals, razor sharp riffs and utterly eerie keyboards pepper the new tunes. It's literally vintage Cradle.

    Bitter Suites To Conclude With

    Created: 18/02/10
This full length, interim release was originally supposed to be an interim ep. It seemed to grow from there into the final good album Cradle of Filth has yet to produce, being also the final work with longtime guitarist Gian Pyres. (Pyres was later featured on the live album Live Bait For The Dead and an odds & ends collection Lovecraft & Witch Hearts.) Bitter Suites contains 4 new tracks (All Hope In Eclipse, Born In a Burial Gown, Suicide And Other Comforts, Scorched Earth Erotica), a pair of instrumentals (Sin Deep My Wicked Angel, Dinner At Deviant's Palace), 3 older songs re-recorded (Summer Dying Fast, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, Black Goddess Rises II), and 1 cover (Sisters of Mercy song No Time To Cry), all executed as masterfully as their previous outings.

If you are a fan of the elder Cradle of Filth era (The Principle of Evil Made Flesh through Midian) you must cap your collection with this CD. It was the dying breath of a style some feel they can never regain.

    Bitter Suites To Succibi

    Created: 23/06/08
Cradle of Filth's Bitter Suites to Succubi is essentially an EP - or "transitional mini album" as Dani Filth would have it - bridging the gap between Midian and Damnation and a Day while the band negotiated their label change from Music For Nations to Sony. It features only six new tracks (two of which are instrumentals), but is bolstered to album-length with three reworkings of songs from The Principle of Evil Made Flesh ("The Principle of Evil Made Flesh", "Summer Dying Fast" and "The Black Goddess Rises"), and a cover version. It was the band's first release on their own Abracadaver label. Uniquely in the band's canon, it features exactly the same band members as the previous album. This would be the last studio album to feature long-term bassist Robin Eaglestone.

"Dinner at Deviant's Palace" is actually The Lord's Prayer played backwards.

On the special edition version of the CD, the track listing spells "Scorched Earth Erotica" as "Scorched Earth Erotics".

All in all, an album worth buying.
