Album Notes
Personnel: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals); Zakk Wylde (guitar); Blasko (electric bass); Mike Bordin (drums).Six years on since 2001's largely forgettable DOWN TO EARTH, BLACK RAIN marks a bit of a comeback for Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy's live band (featuring longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, drummer Mike Bordin, and bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson) were called to arms at Oz's Los Angeles home studio to deliver the kind of heavy grooves and down-tuned hard rock that sate fans old and new. Wylde's trademark vibrato and false harmonics on the opening track, in particular, set a hard-hitting tone for this fresh set of tracks.Lyrically Ozzy makes some familiar anti-war statements ("Black Rain" and "Countdown's Begun"), delivers social and political commentary ("Almighty Dollar" and "Civilize The Universe"), and offers affection for his fans and loved ones ("Here For You" and "Lay Your World On Me"). Clean and sober for over two years, the self-proclaimed Prince of Darkness is in remarkably strong and healthy form on BLACK RAIN.

Ozzys' Worst record ever!

Created: 21/05/07
This is very hard for me to write since Ozzy Osbourne is a lifelong favorite of mine but "Black Rain" is the worst record/cd ever put out by the Godfather of Heavy Metal. The album is boring and the guitar licks are poor.....What happened Zakk? Although the cover art is pretty cool the rest stinks! The entire album is about Ozzy not leaving (Not going away, I dont wanna stop, Here for you) yes Ozzy, we get the point. I listened to this album several times, hoping I would "dig" it but I dont. This is just my opinion, but every Ozzy fan will agree.........Black Rain is not the best Ozzy album.....Not even close.....we would all agree, its the worst Ozzy out there! I was hoping for better since it was a 6 year return...I was wrong!

I was waiting for Ozzy to let Zakk write the music for a full album so this is a dream come true. Standout tracks are 11 Silver, Black Rain and The Almighty Dollar. Keep in mind the people that give this album bad reviews are probably Iron Maiden or Dio fans who feel threatened. They likely listened to the album trying to find things to trash. They are douchebags

Good Stuff

I'm an avid Ozzy and Wylde fan and this album is a great piece of work. There's a few songs that are all Wylde and not so much Ozzy, but the good thing about that is they're both GREAT! I highly recommend this album. There's some hard and heavy classic wylde heavy, piano, classical guitar, ripping solo's.. whatever you require from these two is on this album.

Best yet!

I have loved Ozzy ever since he went solo. He has always been #1 or #2 on my favorite band list. Every time a new album comes out I am afraid I won't like it as much, but I like each one more than the last. For a 60 year old guy (or any age) he's the best metal out there and he always has top notch musicians playing with him.
