The best mobile device around - period

Created: 08/04/11
Ever wondered how your thick fingers could possibly manage to type on most smartphone keyboards? Even not really want to deal with an easily cracked touchscreen device? Then the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 is the phone for you.

This marks the fourth 8110 I have owned (others have been lost or stolen). The larger keys and two letters per button design allows me to text faster than a 13 year old girl (so imagine how fast a 13 year old girl would be with one). The large screen is beautiful; the balance of design and functionality is perfect - to the point where I truly don't know why RIM decided to keep designing new phones; the onboard memory is so massive that I have not had to delete text messages for years.

The ability to link the phone to any computer via any mini to regular USB cable makes the BlackBerry one of the most accessable phones I have ever encountered. You can charge it the same way, at the same time. I honestly don't understand why all phones can't just charge the same way (the U in USB stands for UNIVERSAL after all!!). And the fact that you can access the media stored on the Micro SD card (not included) while charging the phone is cool too. I hated having to remove the card, put it into an adapter, and then put it in a card reader. Unlike some other devices from some other manufacturers, BlackBerrys are very user friendly.

Now, I don't even have internet on my phone, and I love this device. I can only imagine how much more I would love it with net access.

The carrying pouch that BlackBerry provides for this phone has a neat little feature: The phone detects when it is in the pouch and can be set to behave differently, like vibrate instead of ring or make different sounds.

While I could go on and on detailing all the little awesomenesses of the BlackBerry Pearl 8110, I think I'll leave some treasures for you to find. Go and get yourself one now and learn why this is my favorite mobile device - and why it should be yours as well.

Blackberry Pearl 8110 ATT

Created: 21/06/10
Review written June 21st 2010

I work for ATT and have for over 8 years, I know pretty much every phone thats been made for the past decade and I tell the you TRUTH about them rather it be the positive or the negative, I personally use this exact same model phone and have for almost 3 years now.

Pros: Very durable(8.5 of 10) and gets EXCELLENT reception (9.5 of 10), I travel all over the nation from the mountains of Maine to the deserts of California and I can only think of a couple of phones ever on the market that got reception comparable to this phone and they are all old school Nokias. Of course its a Blackberry so it offers the same superior email sevices that no other phone maker can compete with any and all Blackberrys offer the best email service.

Cons: Even the best items have their disadvantages, the 8110 is a 2G handset which doesnt offer the faster web surfing compared to the newer 3G phones and also the 8110 wont do streaming videos or weather radars in motion. Secondly, I personally have never had a problem with mine but we do see quite commonly people have problems with the rollerball getting stuck or not rolling one way or another. The stores charge like $20-$30 to replace them but you can get them on Ebay for a couple of bucks if you want.

Hope this helps you with your decession, I personally LOVE this phone but everyone has their own opinions.

Most Read: Full RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8110 (AT&T) Review

Created: 04/10/09
It has been more than a year and a half since the first RIM BlackBerry Pearl launched, the device has changed little, at least visually. The design is still the same, and though we've always appreciated the SureType keyboard and the slim design, the OS needs a serious upgrade, and even the trackball isn't as amusing as it once was. We liked having GPS on a Pearl, but the Verizon Wireless and Sprint BlackBerry Pearls both have navigation, with 3G networking to boot. Still, even though there is little to recommend AT&T's BlackBerry Pearl 8110 over the others, it's still a competent smartphone and not a bad choice, even though there are better choices around. Release: April 2008. Price: $100.
Pros: Slim BlackBerry Pearl, now with GPS. Very good battery life. Navigation software looks better than competitor's.
Cons: Same Pearl, different model number. OS and older apps need visual update. Web browser renders messy pages. Lacks 3G networking.

In addition to these features, the AT&T BlackBerry Pearl 8110 includes the familiar suite of BlackBerry functions. These have not been significantly updated in some time, and though apps like the calendar and address book are quite functional, they could use a serious visual update. Also, the Web browser, which is the same as on other BlackBerry phones, was a disappointment, especially now that we've been using Apple's Safari browser on the iPhone for a year. The Pearl was also the first BlackBerry to feature a built-in camera, but we remain generally unimpressed with the images we got from the device's lens. At 2-megapixels, the images were still too fuzzy to use even on a full screen PC monitor, but looked much better on the device's tiny screen, so at least the camera should work fine for creating new wallpapers.

No data plan needed. If you are almost old school this phone is perfect. I bought one brand new years ago for a phone and to text. The keyboard does take some getting used to but after you do you will never want to go to something different. My problem with the new phones is that I am cheap. I don't need a data plan because I only want a phone I can text, camera, video and mostly use as a phone without having to charge every 4 hours. You can't get that anymore. So this is my second 8110 pearl. The old one is beat up, scratched, dropped in a pool and still works pretty good considering how rough I am. Love this phone.

Review For: BlackBerry Pearl 8110 - Titanium (Unlocked) Smartphone
Pearl is small, so she fits in my bag or pocket easily. I am a health care worker so I can not receive calls while on duty, my Pearl saves all the calls and voicemails for me. I can easily check and later call back to my family. I was a little over whelmed by the small key board but it is easily mastered in a day or 2. The volume could use a bump up, either I can not or am not able to get a louder ring tone. Other than the volume issue I love the Blackberry Pearl, oh did I mention she's PINK? My favorite color!
