Product Information
Following on the heels of the arcade and console shooter sensations, BlackSite: Area 51 is an action packed, first person shooter experience which pits gamers against alien enemy forces using the infamous U.S. government landmark, Area 51, and the surrounding areas as the battlefield backdrop. Set in present day, players take the role of a decorated military veteran charged by the government to lead a squadron of "secret soldiers," each with his/her own specialty skill set, into the Rachel, Nevada area to fight off the invasion of unidentified enemy races. The player's modern-day emotions and fears are driven into a world charged with grave responsibility affecting lives hanging in the balance and eventually finding himself torn between his professional orders and his own ethical standards. In the end, only the actions of the player and his squad can shape the outcome of BlackSite: Area 51 during this potentially pivotal moment in history.

There are two things about this game

    1. Stupid Squad mechanics, hard to control the squad, its like herding chickens. Squad and enemy troops tend not to hide behind a barrier but in the open or in front of it. I think the squad shares the "Kane and Lynch" mouse brains

    2. Spawning, infinite enemy spawning teleportation abilities. Some levels will infinitely spawn enemies, some teleporting in the same location over and over again, good for getting those 200 kills with a certain weapon achievements but eventually the infinite-spawning novelty wears thin.

If your a Halo 3 player, you might like this game, has cartoony material in it.
If your like me and found Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as the thee game of the year, this game cannot match the minimal bar set by COD4.

    The plus side, its arcadey-like.
Think of this game like a Sega Rally Revo-version of a FPS and you will not be dissappointed. Just dont have high expectations. Its a okay game.
Good luck on getting online with its multiplayer, its kinda empty, like a Timeshift multiplayer game, its you and ...well.. you waiting... hoping.. waiting..

Thankfully, most of the online achievements unlock anytime in the match... its the ranked matches that must be completed.

Online achievements for the 50 capture the flags and do 20 kills can be done in player matches with just 2 people, if you can get someone else to help you and help them too, you should get those easily. Player match: Unlimited time, captures set at 50, while your at in the match, you can kill each other 20 times for the vanquished achievement.

However its the ranked matches that are kind of tough, few, I mean few people are online at the same time and when they are online, few will actually want to play for achievements or if they all do agree, expect only a couple of matches before a snafu begins. Yeah, ranked matches require at least 4 players, so hopefully you know 3 others with seperate 360 consoles, with Live accounts to help you. Remember ranked matches are different, no game invites, each match is seperate, if you have only two people and its the second person who joins who will join the reborn, if that person quits, you have to setup another match, also once the ranked match is over, you must setup another ranked match, this hast to be done 50 times if you want to get those 2 achievements.

Good luck and dont quit any matches even if your losing on a ranked match, someones got to lose to get points, your turn will to win points will hopefully arrive soon enough unless you really suck at this game.

this game is one of the if not the best 1st person shooter i have ever played, it was and still is very totally under rated, i bought it for my 5 year old and have totally hooked on it since i have been playing it.
graphisc and storyline are the best i have seen for an alien shooter game with this low of a rating when it initially came out.

    BlackSite: Area 51

    Created: 19/01/08
I like this game very much. I am a Halo3 and Call of Duty4 guy and BlackSite Area 51 is kind of like both games in one. I watch Xbox 360 games on Ebay and bid on games that have low bids so I can get odd games cheap. I took a chance with BlackSite Area 51 because I had not heard anything about it.
I find myself at times through out the day wondering what is next in campain. As I write this I am wondering why I am writing and not playing.
I hope if you are reading this and decide to buy or rent it that you are as suprized as I was with this game.

    BlackSite: Area 51 (Xbox 360)

    Created: 29/11/07
    Gameplay: 6.5
The shooting mechanic is passable, but aiming is excruciatingly slow. The morale mechanic is pretty forgettable.

    Graphics: 7.0
While the game occasionally has its graphical moments and impressive visual moments, 90% of the game is bland art design.

    Sound: 6.8
The voice acting is decent, but sometimes confusing. Nothing special here.

    Difficulty: Medium

    Concept: 6.5
The story and dialogue is occasionally clever, but this is no Bioshock.

    Multiplayer: 7.5
There are the basic online modes, and while I wasn’t able to test them, Abduction Mode sounds interesting.

    Overall: 6.5
Blacksite: Area 51 is fun to play – sometimes - but when you compare it to other FPS’s on the market like Bioshock, Halo 3, and CoD4, there is no comparison. Playing a game like this makes you really appreciate how far games have come, and what a little extra polish will do to a game.
