FANTASTIC - Spiritual Successor to Jet Set Radio Future
Created: 07/01/11
This is one of the best games I have played on the Wii system.
If any of you have ever played Jet Set Radio Future, which shipped bundled with the original Xbox and some racing game I never played, you will remember its distinctive and beautifully bold style, gameplay, characters, and music. I can say for certainty that up until now I had not played another game like it. de Blob, however, now ranks nearly alongside JSRF as one of my all time favourites.
The style is beautiful. Though every story mode begins with the titular character dropped into a cold, stark and sanitized grayscale environment, the transformation into a colorfully breathing and alive world makes even those monochrome cities hum with anticipatory joy. de Blob is not a clean and tidy game, and it makes no attempt to be so; paint is easily spread everywhere and remains there long after you've left, and the buildings explode into ever-more gaudy and cheerful textures as you splash through the city streets. It's quite a feeling - you begin by trudging through quiet and medically clean city blocks and leave the area rolling on a wave of color, all of the inhabitants gathering in the town center and celebrating their freedom with fun and games.
The music fits perfectly, though it isn't quite as much of a monument as JSRF's unforgettable playlist. It's groovy, fun, and always upbeat, and it meshes perfectly with the game's style.
The characters, regrettably, never hoist a boombox and never seem to grow beyond being entertainment for young children (though I must admit I did not finish the game before I gifted it to my nephews). The gameplay's challenge system based upon their personality works well and it's not hard to grow to like them. Graydians, the denizens of the city, are always overjoyed at your presence and gather in the town squares to root you on.
The gameplay is also done fairly well. Completionists will rejoice while the OCD weep at the number of achievements to be had on every level (paint every building, every tree, every billboard, every resident, every blimp, etc). Control is tight, fluid, and smooth, though wall jumping is obnoxious. Younger kids won't have too much trouble getting around and getting things done, but there's still challenge there for the older kids (especially in the shorter special levels that come in every area).
Final summary: buy it, you'll love it.

de Blob is a Hidden Gem.

Looking for great quality 3rd Party games for the Wii system can sometimes be hard and deceiving. Fortunately, I was able to see that THQ really did a fantastic job making a fun game with tons of style, family oriented gameplay, and also an overall challenge.
De Blob has the funniest game concept - to start a color revolution against an evil force (INKT) threatening to take ALL color away. You as ''Blob'' - literally just a blob of paint - have to break paint bots and start repainting the world with a variety of challenges.
Its sad to know that these kinds of gaming gems made specifically for the wii are being overlooked and not getting the attention they deserve. I strongly encourage anyone to buy this game, for the addicting gameplay, fantastic music that just keeps you moving throughout the game, amazing art style and controls.
Don't be fooled into buying lower quality games that just look like fun on the box. Its what you play that counts, and one needs to know what he is buying. Reviews are plentiful, just search carefully and shop wisely.
The game will charm you from the first cutscene. Its one of the best deals you can get right now on your Wii system.

Cool Game - the more I play, the better I like it.

At first I was not sure about this game. But after going through the first level a second time I became used to the controls and fell in love with this game. You can follow the story mode and compete in challenges, or simply run around town painting up everyting in site. This game also has a great sense of humor and good music. Camera control is better than most. Learning to wall jump will help you beat the time challenges. Well worth the going price on Ebay!!!!!

If you feel blue, just change colors with "de Blob"!
Created: 23/09/08
PROS:
Great gameplay mechanics, either for platforming, coloring or fighting
Catchy jazz soundtrack that dynamically changes with the colors
Amazingly creative design and concept
Gorgeous graphics for the Wii's limitations
Tony-Hawk-combo-like score meter (but coloring)
Challenging puzzles
About 9 hours of single player gameplay, but worth repeating them
Leaves plenty of space for a great new franchise
CONS:
Not many multiplayer options
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
This game is one of the best plataformers on the Wii available. It is 3º in my list after Super Mario Galaxy & Super Paper Mario.
It kind of feels like a Kirby game, but instead of powers you have colors. The objective is just to color the pale city with as many colors as you can, and start scoring color combos kind of like Tony Hawk's scoring system. There are specific objectives in each level, that in higher levels make up for some challenging puzzles.
There are also some parts that are purely plataformer that feel quite like Super Mario Galaxy gameplay which is great. The concept is simplstic but brilliantly executed.
Just Try it!!! you won't regret it.

Love DeBlob

We love this game. Have been renting it & finally bought it. We affectionally call it 'Bob'. I am 40, my bf is 41 and just love playing with Bob.
We were getting free rentals from Hollywood Video so it cost nothing to try it. Then, it sold for over $40 at the stores so purchased on Ebay for half the price.
Few games catch your attention for more than a few weeks & this one we still keep playing.
