    Publisher's Note
In a prequel to the Hawk & Fisher series, young Prince Rupert wages war on a demonic force spreading the evil of Darkwood across the land, with the help of some most unlikely allies, including a fiery dragon companion. Reprint.

Rupert didn't especially want to be a prince. And he certainly never asked to be the second son of a royal line that really didn't need a spare. After all, a kingdom suffering from crippling financial losses couldn't very well afford to have different factions fighting over who was more worthy to rule as the next king. So Rupert was sent out to slay a dragon and prove himself - a quest straight out of a legend.
But Rupert also discovered the kinds of things legends tend to leave out, as well as the usual demons and goblins, a dreaded Night Witch ... and even worse terrors hidden in the shadows of Darkwood.
Rupert did find a fiery dragon - and a beautiful princess to rescue too. But the dragon turned out to be a better friend than anyone back at the castle. And with the evil of Darkwood suddenly spreading its roots ... and with the blue moon rising and the Wild Magic along with it, Rupert needed all the friends he could get.

    A great book...Green is a Master

    Created: 14/10/05
I think there are two types of people who read. Those who like Simon Green and those who don't. Green has a sense of humor that can easily be over looked. However, I found Blue Moon Rising to be an awesome, fast paced book that had me laughing ‘til the end.

The characters came to life from the start, and you came to care for them as if they were your friends. Prince Rupert reminds us that legends aren’t always true and the parts the are true are rarely song about. The Princess Julia shows us that women are strong and have a mind of their own. With her great swordsmenship, her hidden dagger and her noteworthy right hook, she’s a woman to think twice about. The unicorn is a wise cracking creature that will turn on you if you make the mistake of calling him a horse. And finally the dragon. He's just happy that somebody came to save him from the Princess. Did I mention he collects butterflies?

The plot was fast paced and took a turn when you least excepted it. Green gracefully guides you through a world being taken over by the Demon Prince and his demons. Rupert and Julia must fight side by side if they have any chance of winning against the evil that wants to destroy their world.

Can Rupert and Julia come up with a plan before it’s too late? Can the Forest Castle survive long enough for the Demon Prince to be sent back to the darkness that he came from? And will Rupert be able to win the hand of his Princess even through she’s betrothed to his brother? All before the Blue Moon Rises?
