Boardwalk Empire: The Complete First Season (DVD, 2012, 5-Disc Set)

We heard a lot about Boardwalk Empire, so we decided to buy the DVD of Season 1.
We have generally enjoyed it so far, having watched the first 6 episodes.
We are not prudes, but there is a lot of fairly graphic sex scenes throughout, including a lesbian scene. perhaps a little less of this type of content would not have hurt the story.
The other aspect is the amount of gory violence shown. Of course, this is to be expected from a story about gangsters. Just make sure you are O.K. with these kind of scenes before you invest in the DVD.
As far as picture and sound are concerned, both are excellent, at least on our home theater system. Also, the costumes are really fantastic as well as the music. Steve Buscemi does a fantastic job of playing the main character!!
So, if you're O.K. with sex and gore, then go for it!

My husband was interested in this new series. I bought it as a birthday gift...He loved it. He had heard through many of his buddies at work that it was a great series. We no longer have HBO jso he was not able to check it out on TV. Steve Busemi is great.

Best HBO series EVER! If you liked Sopranos , you're going to LOVE this series! - amazing acting - stunning scenes and one he'll of a rollercoaster ride for the viewer. Watched the whole first series in one weekend.

A very good series, not quite as good as everyone had said. A little difficult to follow in the beginning, I had to watch the first two episoted twice

It is one of the best shows on cable. Love the time period and shows how things were so different back then. Gives a sense of history lessons about how the African American's and women were treated back in the day. Love how crooked the politics were even back in the day. Let's me see how the mob got started.
