Like the notorious Mr. G, he's adept at combining pop, jazz and contemporary R&B. James' sax lines drip lugubriously from his slick, glossy arrangements. Sparkling digital synth and programmed rhythms provide a softly syncopated backdrop for the artist's melodies. These soft, sensual tunes are the aural equivalent of immersion in a hot tub (presumably James' exact intention). If you want daring improvisations or harmonic innovation, you'd be best served elsewhere, but if you're looking for unabashed make-out music, BODY LANGUAGE will fill the bill.

Body Language - James, Boney (CD 1999)

Created: 06/08/08
Good smooth jazz.In this album I think Boney James reminds us of how unique his talent really is. In this one "Body Language" he combines beautiful vocals with the sax and other great instrumental nuances. Also, I sense a combination of R & B rhythms with his unique contemporary jazz sound. This album is definitely one of Boney James best. It's great for easy listening in any atmosphere or simply mellow background music. I highly recommend this album if you don't yet own it. I don't even think James himself can top this one. Great musicianship displayed by a top rate contemporary jazz artist!

Very nice cd, after more concise review I found Body Language to be quite enjoyable and very relaxing. Boney has a full bodied tonal approach to the tenor and when switching to alto he opens up the tonal pallet to produce some of the most seductive tones possible from the alto sax. I liked the groves and moods on this cd and look forward to more satisfying sounds from the master of smooth jazz saxophone in the future, you go Boney
