It is overwhelming how many effects pedals there are. I was checking out demo videos and the person that did one for this pedal really played with his setup. He played the same basic sound blurb with eight or ten different setups and that sold me. This pedal takes over where solid state lead channels fall short. Leave your amp on clean and use the OS-2 to dial in the overdrive and distortion to suit your taste and cater to the style you're playing. Your knobs are: Level, Tone, Drive, and Color. I typically set the level to balance my setup so the volume is close with or without the pedal activated. I usually run the drive close to minimum and the color close to maximum. This gives your string bends that shearing type sound and adds some nice crunch to the power chords. I play everything from Beatles to Metallica and this pedal works for everything. This pedal delivers a huge bang for the buck. If you don't want to plunk down the cash for a tube amp, this pedal enhances what you caan get out of your solid state amp.

Not in my rig currently...but it covers the mid boost Boss OD sound as well as the Mid-cut Boss Distortion sounds fairly well. If I needed BOTH of these Boss designs--this pedal may cover both bases well enough. Nothing spectacular--but I prefer clean amps with pedals for extra gain--so this is usable, just not my favorite. I tink J. Garcia had one for awhile.

I use this pedal on a electric violin linked through a wah wah pedal. I like the overdrive function the best, I do user a little distortion . having the ability to shape the sound with one pedal is the best part of this dual function pedal.

Good Overdrive, Distortion is OK

Like all musical equipment, it's subjective about what's good and what isn't. I generally prefer saturated, touch sensitive overdriven tones. That part of this pedal delivers well on that front. As for distortion, I find it a bit buzzy and not very "organic" sounding but, it'll do in a pinch I guess.
