The Brave Little Toaster (DVD, 2003)
Created: 10/12/10
This movie has been a classic in my household for as long as I can remember. It`s about the journey of a bunch of loveable household appliances (including a toaster, lamp and big, moody vaccuum cleaner) left behind at a summer vacation home, who head out to the big city in search of their beloved owner, a little boy.
It isn`t your typical childrens adventure movie, but one that is unique and unlike any other. I first saw this when it quickly became my younger brothers favourite movie and more than 10 years later, the characters still stick in my mind.
It`s humourous, heartwarming and a little suspenseful. Guaranteed to keep any child or adult alike amused and glued to the television, rooting these characters on the whole way. My son is only 8 months old but I specifically searched for a purchased this movie because I know he`ll grow up to enjoy it just as we did as children.
I highly reccommend this to anyone with youngsters! Enjoy!

Blast From The Past

If this were any other cartoon animated kids movie, you would not catch me admitting that I own a copy. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. The Brave Little Toaster is a simply amazing movie. I've enjoyed it when I was six years old; I enjoy it now. It's fun and entertaining. This is quite possibly one of the greatest cartoon animated movies I have seen.
The music is upbeat and gives you a "soul injection" with it's catchy music. The voice overs have been well done in the movie and matchs the charactestics of that appliance. You think wow, is that what my Toaster sounds like?
The Toaster is the main protaginist of the movie. He is courageous, light-hearted character. Joining him in his quest is also Lampy, the not so bright table lamp, Radio the loud mouth radio. Also joining the quest is Blanket the whiney, cry baby electric blanket. Finally, there is Kirby the grumpy vacuum.
The main plot behind The Brave Little Toaster is about these 5 everyday appliances that have been left at a summer cottage in the countryside. When they realize that their "Master" is selling the Cottage, they decide to join together and seek out their master. Along the way, they face many dangers including waterfalls, pawn shops, newer, jealous appliances and etc. The climax of the movie comes when they finally have found thier master and become tricked by they other appliances into thinking they are worthless. They are pushed into a disposal truck and taken off to the junkyard. They lose all hope until they find their master at the junkyard and become reunited.
All in all, The Brave Little Toaster carries it's weight in gold. It will be fun the first time you put it in and it will be fun the 900th time you put it in. The movie will make not just your kids laugh, but you as well. It's a well written movie. You would truly be missing out if you have never seen or own The Brave Little Toaster. It is one of the greatest if not the greatest family movie of all time.

This feature will have one thinking differently about one's appliances in the same way Toy Story made one think differently about toys. Even though it predates Toy Story it has the same premise from a certain point of view. Very good story with nice tunes from Van Dyke Parks. When I first bought this for my son on tape years ago, he wanted to see it over and over - it was that appealing. The reason I give it just a "good" rating is for the quality of the program itself. It still has the slight wiggling motion the original video had. I know it was most likely a choice made for monetary reasons, but I wish Disney would have fixed that. It's a minor quibble on my part and does not distract from the program itself.
There is a bonus feature on the "making of" this and the other two Toaster movies. It's nice, but not very detailed or in depth. Not much money was spent on it and it kind of shows. I would say it's "better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick" for myself. Realistically, if one puts it into perspective this was not a huge item like, say, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, or other Disney classics so the lean-ness of the DVD is understandable.
Bottom line: if you have young children they will enjoy this movie AND it's one you will probably enjoy watching with them.

Animated beyond definition!

Animation redefined. The characters, while traditionally animated cartoons, have animated and delightful personalities. They bring humor and touching committment to their *master* - one gets the same feeling of the dog/human loyalty bond with these priceless vintage appliances determined to live on a second life while their young owner goes off to college.
Meeting up with their *replacements* (the new updated shiney scaled big city appliances!) - these retro vintage appliances will steal your heart and you'll be cheering them on to their revival and renaissance as NEW BUT OLD as they serve the needs of their *master* again while he begins college dorm life. It hits home in many ways - for children - the touching tale of commitment - how many kids have that favorite blanky? or stuffed toy? For adults, the need to replace appliances with the newest and the latest will be pondered as viewing reveals - can you get any better than something that works?! ^_* Just because it's old does it need replacing? Think Landfill Overflow here! Endearing film on multiple levels appealing to all age groups. Loyalty and life lessons - fun and humor - endearing and uplifting feel good family film!

Classic - A Must See, Especially for Children
Created: 04/05/09
This movie is an animation about a number of appliances that are alive that are living in a cabin. During the past few years, they have been maintaining the cabin, hoping for their master, a boy, will return. They eventually decide to go out into the world and fight nature and other obstacles on their way to the city to try to find their who they call Master.
Morals and friendly actions are covered all throughout the movie, which could teach a young child well. I remember seeing this movie a number of times many years ago when I was a young child, and I just purchased it on DVD because I still have great memories of this movie. I'm currently a college student, and I watched it with a few friends of mine. We all have very fond memories of watching this movie over and over as children, so I definitely recommend this movie to any young and growing child!
