Incredible and Powerful Film for the Whole Family
Created: 04/06/09
I may be few and far between with my feelings on this film but I enjoyed it much more than I enjoy your average family film. Annasophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson are almost guaranteed solid performances in the future and I'm excited to see them act as adults. The symbolism and aesthetic qualities of the story are outstanding. It's like I'm reading a classic piece of literature in school, I really think there's more to this film than a stupid 90 minute piece of entertainment parents throw their kids at.

let your imagination run wild!

This movie was a true gem! I bought it on a whim, and was more than pleased with my selection. It took me back on a personal level. I grew up in a home surround by woods and the adventures my sister and I had when we were younger in our tiny little woodland area! LOL It was pure joy to watch these young characters find solitude and importance in a world created solely by their own imagination! My children (ages 8-16) as well as myself, were honestly moved by the many different things that happened throughout this film! Laughter, tears, joy...so easy to relate to much of what you watched because of your own personal experiences as a child. One thing my 10 year old said after the movie, "let's go outside and play terabithia". That's right, put away the video games, click off the Ipods and hit that imagination highway! Highly recommend for great family viewing.

The movie does justice to the book

Seldom does a movie measure up to the book that it is derived from, but this release of Bridge to Terabithia was a real winner. I am a reading teacher, and very fond of the book and a great fan of the author. Katherine Patterson and her son were involved in the production of the movie and that is obvious in the outcome. The book touches on so many topics from the obvious - death of a child, to belief in God, dealing with the stresses of childhood, the beauty of imagination, family support, overcoming and forgiveness. The movie does a good job creating the imaginary world of Terabithia. The book leaves most of the creation of the imaginary world to the mind of the reader, but the movie does an amazing job putting pictures to imagination. Hutcherson and Robb are well cast and talented young people. This movie gives glory to a classic book.

Bridge to Terabithia

I purchased this movie for my daughter. It came in the mail the very same week that I had purchased it. My daughter (13 years old) saw the movie over at a friends house and told me it was something that I would enjoy for our Friday evening family night. Well, my daughter and I love it because it opens up the mind into our very own fantisy world that no one else can come into unless we choose to let them. This movie was proving my point to my daughter. Also, one of my sons (15 years old) liked it but wouldn't really comment on it due to possibly being harrassed by his older brother, but my oldest son (21 years old) said it was too childish. I guess one day he will understand when he has a wife and children of his own.
Thanks,
Georgia (Martinsburg, WV)
