The Bridges of Madison County (DVD, 1997)

I bought this DVD because I had read the book several years ago. It tells a story of a woman who is trapped in her present being co-existing in a passionless life, with a husband and two children who are unappreciative... until one day a stranger (professional photographer) arrives asking for directions to an old covered bridge. Her husband and children had gone away for a week and during their absence is when Meryl Streep begins her short-lived, but forever lasting love affair with stranger Clint Eastwood.

Cons....I thought Clint Eastwood did a poor acting job in this movie and wasn't very convincing.

this is my FAVORITE MOVIE!! A wonderfully romantic movie about a National Geographic photographer (Clint Eastwood)who gets lost looking for a covered bridge in the area)and a rural Iowa house wife (Meryl Streep) who meet while her family is at a state fair for several days. Both Eastwood and Streep make the movie belivable and are perfect for each other in the movie.

I read this book years ago in one evening. I usually have a hard time forcing myself to read a book but I could NOT put this one down. A beautiful love story but a tear jurker too. Simply an awesom story. I never would have cast Clint Eastwood as the leading actor in this story but surprisingly he did an amazing job. Hard to think of him as a gentle kind man after so many western hard guy parts but he surprised me. This is a great story to add to your collection if you are a romantic. A wife and mother of two children finds herself home alone on the farm for a few days while her family has gone to a fair. A famous photographer happens by and a forbidden romance occurs. The woman is torn between her family obligations and this new love that she could not fight nor deny.... A must see!

I bought because I only had a VHS copy and wanted it in DVD format. This is a great love story with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. The story of a lonely Italian war bride who engages in an affair with a photographer who has come to Madison County, Iowa in order to create a photographic essay on the covered bridges in the area.

This particular movie dvd cannot be found in any of my local dvd stores which is why I bought it on eBay. Am a huge fan of Meryl Streep and her acting abilities. The movie is romantic about the one true love that got away. Has a sad ending so make sure you have a box of tissues nearby. Quality of the dvd is excellent, color too, and so is the sound. Its like being at the movie theatre. Recommend this dvd highly!!!!!!
