Bridgestone J33R 460 Driver
Created: 08/01/07
I'm sold on Bridgestone Golf products and this driver purchase completed my set makeup. I now use all Bridgestone products, except for a putter, since they don't sell one in the US.
I started months ago with the J33 Forged Combo Irons, added the matching 56 and 60 degree wedges, then several J33 hybrids of various lofts, the J33 3 and 5 wood and finally the J33R 460 driver. I've used the driver for a little over a month now and am still adjusting to it, mainly because this particular one came with a "boutique" Graphite Design YS-Power graphite shaft. It is VERY long, but I'm still debating if I like this shaft. It has a soft tip and I sometimes have issues trying to time the release. My hybrids and fairway metals have the Aldila NV shaft which is a little easier to time correctly. Another adjustment I'm making is that this driver has a somewhat muted sound. I'd previously been using a Cleveland Hi-Bore driver which had a very loud sound at impact. At first, I didn't like the fact that the Bridgestone driver was so quiet in comparison, but the more I've used it, the better I like it. Overall I'm very pleased with it and will continue playing with it for awhile I'm sure.
I'm totally sold on Bridgestone products. As I said, I now have a complete set, and also use the B330S golf ball and have a Bridgestone Staff Bag. I think they make an excellent product and the fact that they aren't as big a name as the Titleists, Taylor Mades, and Pings of the world means you can get them at very good prices.
I'm currently a 3 handicap that has used a variety of clubs from the brand names mentioned above. These clubs are as good or better than any I've ever played.

Bridgestone is the most under rated driver on the market.More golf stores should carry their products. If you want a driver that hits the ball with low spin this is the driver for you.But only buy one if you want to gain 20 yds off the tee.

Bridgestone - A well kept secret

Without question, the best Driver I've ever owned. The 460cc head is set square and it will really move the ball downrange. Used to own the popular TaylorMade adjustable Driver until I hit this Monster. The Bridgestone 460cc went right past the TaylorMade consistently by 12yds(lasered for proof)on the range. Sold the TM right there on the range and kept the Bridgstone and I have not looked back. Recently, I put in the new Aldila VS Proto shaft and have added even more yards off the tee. Sweet!! This Driver really works well for the mid to low handicapper who likes to control the ball flight, which the Bridgstone delivers on command. Go try one out and you will see what I saying.

Solid Driver

I went with the 10.5* loft because I got an X flex grafolloy blue shaft (very stiff) and didn't want to have issues with ball flight due to the super stiff shaft. Overall the club is easy to hit, the x flex shaft doens't flex very much so I lost some yards off the tee but picked up some accuracy. The 10.5* loft works very well with the shaft, and also I think the higher lofts in this head are easier to hit. Since it has a square face (a lot of drivers have 1 to 2* closed faces) the higher loft really looks like a 9.5* in my opinion.
The head kinda has a dead sound to it. Meaning it doesn't ting / ping like a callaway or taylormade. Which takes a little while to get used to, but doesn't affect anything other than your psyche.
In the end, it's a very workable driver, with great looks, simple clean crown. I have no trouble drawing the ball (the 10.5* helps) and fading the ball (the neutral / square face helps).
It's not as forgiving as the other 460cc heads I've hit. I'm comparing it to the Callaway 454 & 460X; Taylormade r7 460 quad; Nike 5000.
To give all stats, I'm about a 2-3 handicap, not playing as much or practicing as much as I need to. Hope this helps

Bridgestone's Bomber

This is a great driver with a true, penetrating ball flight. The set-up is square and the look is clean. It has a very solid feel and unlike many 460cc drivers the ball can be worked for draws or fades. Hit the ball higher on the face for a higher flight, lower for more penetrating flight. This makes it great driver for playing in windy conditions. Definitely a players club, although relatively forgiving, off-center hits loose some distance. It has a sound that let's you know when you hit it right. A very solid club and highly recommended for mid to low handicappers.
