A Bug's Life (Sony PlayStation 1, 1998)

This game has some flaws in the animation (it was one of the first to try for true 3D action and POVs) but the challenges more than make up for it. Based on the movie of the same name, the main character is Flik, the nonconformist ant who finds a better way to do things. In the game, he gathers grain, fights nasty bugs, and collects the letters of his name to get a new life. (Hint: if you keep doing the Training Level over and over, you can get up to 9 lives to start instead of the default 3. You don't have to complete the whole thing --just collect F-L-I-K, get the extra life, save, then come back and do it over. You can also go back to Training and get more lives between levels. VERY helpful!) You have to find and sprout seeds, collect coins, etc. to solve various challenges -- and if you get the Gold Berry on each level, you can knock out those grasshoppers for good! The only complaint i have is that the controls for saving a game and starting a game are confusing, so I erased a game the first time around. But I still give it 5 stars!

We all know how hard it is to balance family, work, and all of the other hectic things in our lives. With everything going on, it is hard to monitor what our children are playing with, and the shows they are watching. A Bug’s Life is one of those games that parents can rest easy while their children play, as the classic children’s movie equates to an excellent children’s game.

All of your favorite Bug’s Life characters are in the game, and your children will delight in interacting with the stars of the movie. If you have a child of elementary school age, or younger, then this game makes a perfect gift. As an added bonus, the game is not so childish that adults will have no use for the game. A Bug’s Life was a movie for people of all ages, and the game is the same, make sure to pick up a copy today for yourself, or a child that you know.

My son is obsessed with all things disney/pixar. Bugs life happens to be one of his favorites. He constantly surfed ebay looking for items he likes, it was the right price at the right time. He has enjoyed it immensely.

It is hard to find PS1 games. Luckily eBay is able to make them available. Gaming stores only carry recent releases which is to bad because there are a whole bunch of people like myself who still use and need older items.
